What Everybody Should Know About Cancer and Diabetes Prevention with Maple Syrup...

Are you looking for a natural solution to reduce the risk of diabetes and slow down the growth of cancer cells? Your search is probably over because recent studies have shown that maple syrup holds the key to these problems. US researchers have found that maple syrup has the ability to substantially decrease the risk of diabetes. The syrup also showed great potential in slowing down the growth of cancerous cells. Maple syrup has thirteen active antioxidant substances. These antioxidants were previously unknown but were discovered only recently. Because of these antioxidants, researchers have firmed up that maple syrup has a great potential in fighting cancer growth, diabetes, and infections.

Food for Diabetic Sufferers...
Maple syrup contains increased levels of abscisic acid and phytohormone. These substances can effectively defend your body against diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The acid has a unique role in controlling diabetes. It releases insulin through the pancreatic cells and promotes enhanced sensitivity of fat cells to insulin. Because of these unique actions, maple syrup can control diabetes. The results of the studies were presented to the American Chemical Society in San Francisco. These results were carefully reviewed by other experts in the field.

The Anti Cancer Potential of Maple Syrup...
Quebec researchers, on the other hand, conducted a study to probe the impact of maple syrup on cancer cell growth. The results of this study were published in the Journal of Medicinal Food. According to the researchers, your favorite maple syrup can significantly slow down the growth of cancerous cells. It has been found that the syrup is effective in inhibiting the growth of brain, prostate, and lung cancer. However, the efficacy of the syrup on breast cancer growth was less significant.

Your Tasty Alternative to Fight Cancer and Diabetes...
Maple syrup can serve as your tasty alternative in fighting cancer and diabetes. There are many anti cancer foods today like blueberries, tomatoes, broccoli, and carrots. However, recent studies have shown that maple syrup is more effective against cancer compared to other anti cancer foods. Laboratory testing results also show that the syrup is more potent compared to the maple sap. It is also ideal to use the pure dark syrup rather than the lighter syrup. Dark syrup has high color oxidation. This is the reason why darker maple syrup should be preferred. So if you want a better alternative to fight cancer and diabetes, then your favorite maple syrup is a good option.

Fish Oil Benefits Even After Heart Attack, New Study Finds...
(NaturalNews) Study after study over the past decade has come up with the same conclusion: omega-3 fatty acids from fish or fish oil supplements decrease the risk of atherosclerosis, potentially deadly arrhythmias, heart attacks, and sudden cardiac death. Omega-3 fats have also been found to reduce heart failure death by about nine percent in patients with grave prognoses. But what about people with serious heart disease who have already had heart attacks. Is there any hope omega-3s can help their cardiovascular (CV) health, too? A new study of tens of thousands of patients shows the answer is a resounding "yes".

“The effects of vitamin E, carotenoids, vitamin D, thiamin, and niacin in relation to the risk of developing bladder cancer may warrant further investigation,” report the researchers, led by Maree Brinkman from The Cancer Council Victoria in Australia.

Got Gout: Try These Natural Therapies...
(NaturalNews) Gout is one of over one hundred forms of arthritis. Fortunately it is highly treatable. In recent years natural remedies for gout have become very popular. The primary reason for this is that most gout medications have severe side effects or are not safe long term. Natural remedies are safe to take and have no side effects. As an added benefit, most natural treatments contain ingredients that will help improve the body's overall health. For these reasons, many medical professionals believe that natural remedies for gout are your best alternative.

Magnesium Supplement Helps Boost Brainpower...
New research finds that an increase in brain magnesium improves learning and memory in young and old rats. The study, published in the January 28th issue of the journal Neuron, suggests that increasing magnesium intake may be a valid strategy to enhance cognitive abilities and supports speculation that inadequate levels of magnesium impair cognitive function, leading to faster deterioration of memory in aging humans.

Sometimes a fad comes along and it makes sense to join in...

Everyday I talk with my sister-in-law Betty by phone. She lives 2 blocks away but we like to keep in touch. One day a few weeks ago she said tell me about Chia Seeds. I said what do you want to know, are you thinking of growing a Chia pet? No, she laughed, the kind you eat. They are suppose to be super food high in omega 3's or something. She proceeded to tell me how her friend who lives here, but came from Italy originally, had heard about them from a relative there. Apparently it's all the rage there. I said, oh it must be just one of those health food fads that come along, I don't pay much attention to them. A little pompous I was... She bought some and said she felt a lot of energy from them, so I tried them and found the same thing. An almost euphoric feeling, very vibratory in nature, comes over you about 15 minutes after you consume them.

I got to work and started to research all about them.
They are. in fact, a super food that has been used since the Aztec days.

I have highlighted 2 articles this week on them and what they do. I also found a great source for those that want to try them.

Chia Seeds - 16 oz - They sell here at the local health food store for $17.00 for 16 oz. You save $6.00, and the quality is great.

Enjoy this week's article, studies, and videos.

And remember, you are never too old to become younger.

Chia Seeds Benefit Health...
(NaturalNews) Chia seeds are one of these foods that, if you talk about them with other people, you'll inevitably get a blank stare back at you. That's fine because that gives you the chance to tell people about what is thought to be one of the healthiest foods you can eat. The name chia comes from the Aztec word for 'oily', which is 'chian', and this explains well what one of the main benefits of chia is; it is very high in omega-3 acids, which are a type of unsaturated fats.

Chia Seeds (Salvia Hispanica) for Radiant Health, Endurance, and Boundless Energy...
Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica L) was first used as food as early as 3500 B.C. The ancient Aztec civilization used Chia seed to provide them with radiant health, endurance, and boundless energy. The seeds have twice the protein of any other seed or grain, five times the calcium of milk, boron which is a trace mineral that helps transfer calcium into your bones, omega 3 and omega 6, which are essential oils for the body. They also have a very long list of other valuable nutrients. The Aztecs prized this grain more highly than gold and they even used it as medicine. The soluble fiber in the gel forms a wall between carbohydrates and the body, releasing them slowly into the body. This has been found to be very helpful for people who have trouble controlling their sugar levels like Diabetics.

Beets are an Alternative Cancer Treatment...
(NaturalNews) Beets are one of nature's wonder foods. They've recently been found to increase stamina during exercise by 16 percent and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Beets are known to break up cancers and tumors, and they're known to do so faster than the body can eliminate them.

Nutrition victory: Cancer doctors begin prescribing vitamin D as part of cancer therapy...
(NaturalNews) Resounding evidence proving the effectiveness of vitamin D in slowing the onset of breast, colon, and other cancers is convincing a growing body of doctors and physicians to utilize the sunshine vitamin in their arsenal of cancer treatment weapons.

Supplements Best Way to Raise Vitamin D Levels...
The best way to get enough vitamin D is through food, right? No, according to the latest Harvard Heart Letter, which says supplements are the best way for Americans to raise their body’s level of vitamin D, which in most cases are too low right this moment.

Low-carb gaining a foothold…with the mainstream...
The video above shows Chris Gardner, Ph.D., researcher from Stanford University, giving a presentation about the data he generated when he compared the Atkins diet to the Ornish diet, the Zone diet, and the LEARN diet. You all probably remember this study, which he published in JAMA in 2007, showing the low-carb diet brought about greater weight loss and better lab value improvement than the other three diets.

The 7 foods experts won't eat...
How healthy (or not) certain foods are—for us, for the environment—is a hotly debated topic among experts and consumers alike, and there are no easy answers. But when Prevention talked to the people at the forefront of food safety and asked them one simple question—“What foods do you avoid?”—we got some pretty interesting answers. Although these foods don’t necessarily make up a "banned” list as you head into the holidays—and all the grocery shopping that comes with it—their answers are, well, food for thought.

To Age or Not To Age - Be the first to see this amazing documentary...

To Age or Not to Age is a one-hour documentary filmed in New Zealand, following health guru Leslie Kenton on her quest to discover a remedy for aging.

The documentary follows the progress of eight people on a five week trial and includes interviews with medical practitioners, exercise physiologists, naturapaths, traditional healers, and scientists which allow the trial group and viewers an insight into the aging process and ways in which it might be reversed.

The results of the trial are astounding, startling even Leslie Kenton herself. The documentary is a beacon of hope demonstrating that through a combination of orthodox medicine and natural health practices we may learn to prevent degenerative diseases, free up hospital waiting lists, and enjoy aging with enthusiasm, vitality, and health.

She recommends a similar diet to the one I have been using and teaching for over 13 years, modeling a Hunter/Gatherer diet and lifestyle. It is also the basis of my Forever Changes Weight-Loss and Longevity Lifestyle Program.
If you want to see how well you will feel and the medical improvements that come with this lifestyle in just 45 days, watch this film. It will be released soon but you have a sneak peak.

Enjoy and remember...

It's never too late to become younger.

Why consider taking natural enzymes?

I have found Serrapeptase and Nattokinase to be very special products for inflammation of any kind and for removing dead tissue anywhere in the body.

This week I am highlighting an article from Natural News on the benefits of adding enzymes to your supplement list.

Serrapeptase is used in Europe to digest non-living tissue, blood clots, cysts, and arterial plaque and inflammation in all forms. Physicians there have been using Serrapeptase for over 30 years.

Dr. Hans Nieper, the late German physician, used Serrapeptase to treat arterial blockages in his coronary patients. It has been used to safely remove fibrous blockages from carotid arteries found in the neck, which supply blood to the brain. Serrapeptase protects against stroke and is reportedly more effective and quicker than EDTA Chelation treatments in removing arterial plaque. He also reported that Serrapeptase dissolves blood clots and causes varicose veins to shrink or diminish.

Nattokinase is now being recommended by many doctors as a natural way to stop blood clots from forming and causing heart attacks and strokes.

CW

(NaturalNews) A primary benefit of natural enzymes is their elimination and prevention of scar tissue and fibrosis. Fibrosis itself is scar tissue. As we age, fibrosis becomes a leading cause of eventual death. Around our late 20's our bodies begin to produce a diminishing output of enzymes and by the time we reach our 40's we produce very little enzymes. Cystic fibrosis patients have virtually no enzyme production to speak of, and even cystic fibrosis children seldom make it past their 20's before they die of the restriction and shrinkage in the lungs from the formation of fibrosis or scar tissue. As a result of diminishing enzyme production, our bodies are less and less able to reduce the over abundance of fibrin it deposits in nearly everything from simple cuts, to the inside of our internal organs and blood vessels. This inability is particularly noticeable in women, who frequently develop conditions such as fibrocystic breast disease, uterine fibroids, adhesions, and endometriosis. Men and women alike grow arterial sclerotic plaque (which is scar tissue). We are all also prone to have fibrin begin to spider its way into our internal organs, reducing the organs' size and function over time. As we age, our wounds heal with thicker, less pliable, weaker and more visible scars. By replacing lost enzymes we can help control and reduce scar tissue and fibrosis, thus preventing many of the problems associated with lack of enzymes and excess fibrin. Adding vital enzymes can also help reverse and control existing conditions caused by fibrosis. Even old scar tissue can be dissolved and "eaten away" from surgical wounds, pulmonary fibrosis, kidney fibrosis and even keloids years after their formation. Though doctors in the United States are only recently becoming aware of the benefits of added enzymes, doctors in Europe and Asia have been administering enzymes for decades. Among the best enzymes for removal of scar tissue are serrapeptase and nattokinase. Chymotrypsin and pancreatin are considered to be especially valuable against cancer tumors, especially pancreatic cancer tumors. An especially powerful enzyme is serrapeptase, which is a proteolytic enzyme derived from a species of bacteria originally found in the intestines of silkworms. The bacteria Serratia marcescens E1 produces Serrapeptase, an enzyme that enables the silkworm to dissolve its tough cocoon and emerge as the silkworm moth. Serratia is produced by fermented cultures. Studies have shown that serrapeptase reduces scar tissue, improves tissue healing and significantly reduces inflammation. Serrapeptase also has the ability to digest non-living tissue that is a by-product of the healing response without harming living tissue. Serrapeptase is used to dissolve non-living tissues to include: scar tissue, fibrosis, blood clots, cysts and arterial plaque. It is also used as an anti-inflammatory agent against Sinusitis, as a thinner for mucous secretion and as an agent against varicose veins and fibrocystic breasts. It is believed that serrapeptase can play a key role in dissolving the outer protective layers of cancer cells and tumors to enable the immune system and other cancer fighters to better attack the cancer. Serrapeptase may be particularly effective for those who have lung problems, as it clears out all of the inflammation, mucus and dead/scar tissue. Clearing away problem tissues enables the body's own natural healing system to be able to better replace the bad tissue with healthy tissue and result in better lung function. Serrapeptase also helps eliminate old scar tissue by slowly digesting all of the dead tissue/scar tissue so that it can be replaced as needed with healthy tissue.
Serrapeptase is particularly sensitive to a low pH, thus the supplement versions which are enterically coated are considered superior.

The King Of Toxins - Root Canal Treated Teeth - Extremely Strong Correlation With Cancer & Heart Disease.

Today I am highlighting a 30 minute lecture by Dr. Thomas Levy, M.D., one the of world's foremost experts on vitamin C, especially the intravenous form and now the new Lyposomal form, I take.

Has your dentist recommended you get a root canal in the future? Do you currently have root canals? If so, I beg you to take at least 10 minutes and  watch part 2 of his lecture. If then you see why this information is so important, go back and watch parts 1 and 3, as well.

I think most of you are bored with vitamin C, because it has been touted for so long as the prevention of the common cold, which it has less of an affect on than was originally thought. Colds and flus can be mostly eliminated alright, but they were one letter off. That is done with correcting D3 levels.

In part 2 of the 30 minute lecture I have listed below, Dr. Levy says, and I quote, "The root canal treated tooth is the primary cause, by virtue of it's horrible negative effect on your anti-oxidant status in your body, the primary cause of all heart, cancer, and even other chronic degenerative disease - period."

He is not alone in his thinking. It has been known by many experts since the 50's.
I knew they were bad, but I had no idea just HOW BAD.

Unfortunately, I have at least 3 root canals from the past and it is the biggest reason I struggle so much with inflammation. If I had known this before I would have never had them.

He recommends Lyposomal C, which I started taking 4 months ago when I heard this lecture and learned about it. I have taken 12,000 mgs to 18,000 mgs a day of ascorbic acid for over 8 years and before that 3,000 to 6,000 mgs. Liposomal vitamin C was absorbed at a rate of almost 90% as compared to regular vitamin C at 19%. And no diarrhea or irritation ever, from large amounts.

Most people need at least 250 mgs to 500 mgs a day of ascorbic acid from supplements or food to stay real healthy. But if you have a chronic disease, levels as high or higher than I take are considered a must by many experts. To understand why, see my page How To Mend A Broken Heart.

I hope you find this information valuable.

Remember, it's never too late to become younger.

A new treatment approach for Crohn's Disease - Vitamin D to the rescue...

For over 5 years I have been blogging on the virtues of optimizing vitamin D levels. Our fear of the sun and our location on this planet all affect our stores of this amazing vitamin.
5 years ago, 400 mgs of vitamin D was considered optimal. Anything much higher was considered toxic.

Today, the top researchers around the world are recommending 5,000 IU's daily for adults and 2, 000 to 3,000 IU's for kids.
We know so much more now on just how important this vitamin/hormone really is. It affects thousands of genes and every aspect of health. Doctors are now recommending that peoples blood be tested and therapeutic levels of 50,000 IU's, for a short period of time, are being used by medical professionals to quickly fix low levels when they are found.

MS, TB, heart disease, cancer, type 1 and 2 diabetes, immuno deficiencies, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and now even Crohn's disease, are being implicated.

I have placed the latest study on Crohn's at the top of today's blog. Pass this on to anyone you know who may find this information useful.

Crohn's Disease Responds to Vitamin D Supplements...
Good news for Crohn’s disease sufferers: a new study has found that vitamin D is effective against symptoms of this inflammatory bowel disease. This discovery by researchers at McGill University in Montreal is especially exciting because it involves a non-drug treatment for this condition and is one that can be used by most patients and individuals at risk for the disease.

Sweet Potatoes: Improve Your Health with this Autumn Super Food...
One of the most nutritious and beneficial foods that you can add to your diet is also one of the most famous of all the Fall comfort foods - sweet potatoes. Not only is this beautiful bright orange vegetable a comfort food staple, but it is also one of the most healthy of the so-called Super foods. One little known fact about sweet potatoes is that they are on the list of beneficial foods for a diabetic diet. They are naturally sweet to the taste buds, but when consumed, sweet potatoes release their natural sugar in the form of glucose into the body at a much slower rate. This process places sweet potatoes on the list of low glycemic index consumables

Vitamin C Provides Powerful Health Benefits...
Vitamin C has always been claimed as an essential nutrient for overall health and well being. Humans are not able to produce this vitamin themselves and it is therefore recommended that we take a supplement, or eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables daily, to ensure the correct dosage. Recent research conducted by the Linus Pauling Institute has discovered breakthrough evidence that Vitamin C has a positive effect in the prevention of heart disease and cancer.

Diets High In Sodium And Artificially Sweetened Soda Linked To Kidney Function Decline...
Individuals who consume a diet high in sodium or artificially sweetened drinks are more likely to experience a decline in kidney function, according to two papers being presented at the American Society of Nephrology's annual meeting in San Diego, California.

Low Vitamin D Levels Explains Most End-Stage Renal Disease Risk In African-Americans...
Low levels of vitamin D may account for nearly 60 percent of the elevated risk of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in African Americans, according to a report in the December Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN). "Our study adds to previous evidence linking vitamin D deficiency to the progression of kidney disease and the need for dialysis," comments Michal L. Melamed, MD, of Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY). "It also explains a fair amount of the increased risk of ESRD in African Americans." Vitamin D is obtained from sun exposure, food, and food supplements.

Resveratrol could prove HRT alternative, study...
Treatment based on resveratrol could be a safer alternative to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in postmenopausal women and could help prevent breast cancer, according to a new study. The findings of a study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry indicate that resveratrol is the most likely candidate of the phytoestrogens to offer safer HRT and chemoprevention of breast cancer due to its estrogenic activity and high antitumor activity.

Fats to Avoid: The Polyunsaturated Oil Epidemic...
(NaturalNews) They sit on the grocery store aisles, appearing rather innocent. They are clear and odorless - mainly because they have been bleached and deodorized with chemicals after high-heat processing has turned them rancid. And, interestingly enough, they are touted as a health food that can save your heart. They are polyunsaturated oils like soybean, canola and corn oil. They are industrialized oil, and they have reared their ugly heads at the health of modern society.

MS research highlights role of vitamin D...
Researchers at the Menzies Institute in Hobart have found that increasing vitamin D levels reduces the risk of getting Multiple Sclerosis by up to 50 per cent.

Folic Acid will Improve Your Wellbeing Dramatically...
(NaturalNews) Folic acid is also known as Vitamin B9 or Folacin. It is water soluble and essential to many bodily functions such as producing healthy red blood cells and preventing anemia. There are many benefits of folic acid; it inhibits colon cancer, prevents heart disease, and is beneficial for pregnant women. Folic acid is abundant in fruit, green leafy vegetables, beans and nuts, but it can also be bought in supplement form.

5 Beauty tips using the mineral Silicon... VIDEO
See from one of the worlds experts on minerals, herbs and super foods, David Wolfe, why silicon in more important than calcium.

Canola Oil: There is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
(NaturalNews) Corn oil comes from corn: sunflower oil from sunflowers, sesame oil from sesame seeds, peanut oil from peanuts, olive oil from olives, Canola oil from...Canolas? What is a Canola? And why is the word "Canola" capitalized?

Cancer Screening: Does It Really Save Lives?...
NaturalNews) Anne is a good patient. She sees her doctor for regular checkups, has yearly mammograms, Pap tests, and colon cancer screenings, and she even paid for a full-body CT scan out of her own pocket. She figures she's doing everything she can to make sure she doesn't get cancer. Truth is, Anne is doing nothing to prevent cancer. Although cancer screening is billed as a preventive service that saves lives, the best it can do is detect disease in its early stages, when it is supposedly easier to treat. Nevertheless, every year millions of Americans dutifully line up for their screenings, completely unaware that they may be doing more harm than good.

Understanding The Anticancer Effects Of Vitamin D3...
The active form of vitamin D3 seems to have anticancer effects. To try and understand the mechanisms underlying these effects, researchers previously set out to identify genes whose expression in a human colon cancer cell line was altered by the active form of vitamin D3.

An Apple A Day Keeps Kidney Stones Away: More Fruits And Veggies, Less Salt Prevents Stones From Forming...
Researchers have found another reason to eat well: a healthy diet helps prevent kidney stones. Loading up on fruits, vegetables, nuts, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains, while limiting salt, red and processed meats, and sweetened beverages is an effective way to ward off kidney stones, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology (JASN).

Neurological Complications Of Heart Surgery...
Possible neurological complications of heart surgery, ranging from headaches to strokes, are detailed in a new report in the online journal MedLink Neurology.
In the most comprehensive and up-to-date review of its kind, researchers list possible nervous system complications of bypass surgeries, aortic surgery, cardiac catheterizations, valve replacements, heart transplants and surgeries for congenital heart disease and heart tumors.

Cat's Claw: Rainforest Plant Kills Cancer Cells and Provides Hope for Arthritis Relief...
(NaturalNews) Cat's claw, also know as Uncaria tomentosa and una de gato, is a vine from the Peruvian jungle. This plant has been used as medicine for over two thousand years by the Peruvian tribe, the Ashaninka. It is known by them as the "Sacred Herb of the Rain Forest." Cat's claw contains compounds called pentcyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) that have been shown to support the immune system, prevent cancers, and possibly treat AIDS. In Europe, the bark is combined with the AIDS drug AZT in some clinical trials.

Cardiac Deaths Peak In Sleep Hours For Patients With Sleep Apnea...
The 20 million Americans who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are more likely to die suddenly of cardiac causes between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. than during the other 16 hours of the day combined, according to findings of a Mayo Clinic study published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Kids' vitamin D levels "shockingly low" according to Children's Hospital researchers...
Is your child’s pediatrician screening for vitamin D levels?
He/she should be, according to the latest large study, published in Pediatrics, on vitamin D levels in children, which found that seven out of ten kids in the U.S. have dangerously low levels, increasing their risks of bone and heart disease, and other health problems.
Researchers looked at blood levels of vitamin D in more than 6,000 U.S. children, ages one to 21, collected from 2001-2004. They defined vitamin D deficiency as less than 15 ng/mL of blood, and vitamin D insufficiency as 15 to 29 ng/mL. Both deficiency and insufficiency were considered low. Nine percent of children were found to be deficient, and another 61% was found to have insufficient levels.

Chronic Kidney Disease Linked To Malfunctioning Mitochondria...
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been linked to oxidative stress caused by dysregulation of the genes that control mitochondria. A study in the open access journal BMC Genomics has revealed alterations in respiration gene expression in the white blood cells of CKD patients.

5 Simple Steps to Cure IBS without Drugs... VIDEO
60 million Americans suffer from IBS, and conventional medicine doesnt have a cure. In fact, many doctors will tell you the condition is all in your head. But there are ways you can treat the underlying causes of IBS. In this weeks UltraWellness blog Dr. Mark Hyman outlines 5 steps you can take to overcome IBS and heal from your digestive problems.

Statins Cause Serious Structural Muscle Damage...
(NaturalNews) If there is a super star in Big Pharma's list of money making drugs, it may well be the group of medications known as statins. The New York Times reported last year that statins are, in fact, the biggest selling drugs in the world. Their names, like Lipitor and Crestor, are familiar from countless television and magazine ads and almost everyone knows someone taking a statin. Promoted widely as safe, they are actually known to cause a litany of potential side effects. For example, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) web site notes that about one in 1,000 of those taking statins suffer from muscle pain. Usually, these aches go away. But not always. And now new research shows that in some people statins cause serious structural damage to muscles.

Try my program - it really is based on real science, not dribble...

As many of you know, I have a weight management and fat loss system called Forever Changes Weight-Loss and Longevity Lifestyle Program. It has taken over 25 years to fine tune it and I keep making it better based on the latest research.

Let me state some facts and the reasons why I think this is your best choice for correcting your weight issue, if you have one.
The facts I am stating are found on my weight loss page and are also described below in 3 medical lectures and an article. Please review them if you think I am nuts.
Obesity is a disorder of excess fat accumulation and not energy imbalance, over eating, or sedentary lifestyle. Some of these issues may contribute to the problem but they are not the cause. What regulates fat accumulation?
Fat accumulation is triggered by the type of foods we eat, when we eat them, and not the caloric content.
Fat accumulation is caused by Insulin, which is triggered by carbohydrate consumption, especially high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), fructose (fruit sugar), sugar (sucrose) and high glycemic foods like grains, breads and cereals, especially the refined ones and fruit juices, regular sodas, candy etc.
Fats are not the problem, they are biochemically neutral. See the article below, What If It's All A Big Fat Lie.
Protein triggers Glucagon, which triggers the burning of stored sugar or glycogen and fat loss from adipose tissue in the form of triglycerides.
One of the lectures below reminds us that we have an obesity epidemic in 6 month old babies today. Babies expend about the same energy as they always have. What has changed? Most mothers don't breast feed anymore and have switched to canned formulas. What's in these formulas...
Let's look at Similac Isomil...
First Ingredient: 43.2% Corn syrup solids, 4th ingredient: 10.3% Sugar (sucrose) That's over 50% sugar - No wonder infants 6 months old are often over weight.
Look at the evidence represented in the information below and try my program.
Have a great week and remember...
It's never too late to become younger.

Why we become fat...
A 1 hour medical lecture showing once again, energy in and energy out is an old paradigm that science has proven wrong. See what the truth is.

The Bitter Truth About Sugar...
Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. Series: UCSF Mini Medical School for the Public [7/2009] [Health and Medicine]

What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?
If the members of the American medical establishment were to have a collective find-yourself-standing-naked-in-Times-Square-type nightmare, this might be it. They spend 30 years ridiculing Robert Atkins, author of the phenomenally-best-selling ''Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution'' and ''Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution,'' accusing the Manhattan doctor of quackery and fraud, only to discover that the unrepentant Atkins was right all along. Or maybe it's this: they find that their very own dietary recommendations -- eat less fat and more carbohydrates -- are the cause of the rampaging epidemic of obesity in America. Or, just possibly this: they find out both of the above are true.

The case for low-carbohydrate diets is gaining weight. Christopher Gardner, PhD, assistant professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center, has completed the largest and longest-ever comparison of four popular diets using real-world conditions, which he discusses - the lowest-carbohydrate Atkins diet came out on top.

My most important blogs for 2009... Perhaps you missed some of these...

I reviewed my HealthBlogger publishings for 2009 and found the ones I felt were the most important for you to see.

I hope you benefit from at least a few of these, and it's not a bad idea to review them either, even if you read them once before.
I go back and review them often myself to remind me of what I already know, but perhaps didn't put into practice the way I should have.

Enjoy and remember...

You are never too old to become younger.

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." Albert Einstein

The best DIET study I have seen... And the results will surprise you.

The other day I reviewed an hour and 16 minute lecture of a 1 year study from Stanford University on which diets, published in book form, work the best. It's an excellent study and the diet recommending the lowest carbohydrate level ended up winning. The study compared the Atkins diet to the Ornish diet, the Zone diet, and the LEARN diet. If you are not familiar with the LEARN diet, it is what the food pyramid is based on and is considered the standard healthy diet with grains recommended as the most important.
It surprised the man who ran the study, a 25 year veteran of a vegetarian diet. Even more surprising to some perhaps, but not to me, was his conclusion at the end where he says that based on the studies results, a Paleolithic or Hunter Gatherer diet eliminating all grains and dairy, was perhaps even better than the Atkins, which ended up winning. The researcher also stated that if nuts and seeds, like I use in my program, were recommended more than heavy fats like cream and butter in Atkins, the results might have even been better.
Not only did the low carb Atkins diet win overall in the diet study, it had the best lab test results in lowering LDL cholesterol and raising HDL, the good kind. My program, Forever Changes Weight-Loss and Longevity Lifestyle Program, was not in the study but it would be closer to a modern day doable version of the Hunter Gatherer - Paleolithic program, with the option of getting into ketosis, like the induction portion of Atkins program.
Ketosis is the natural way the body burns fat instead of sugar for energy, like when a bear hibernates. It is safe and not the same as ketoacidosis, which is dangerous and happens sometimes in diabetics.
Dr. Dean Ornish, author of the very low fat, high carb diet, and Barry Sears, the author of the Zone Diet, were not happy with the results of the study and so the researcher of the study blocked the diet names during the presentation, if you watch and wonder why.
I know many of you watch movies that are longer than an hour and 16 minutes, so if you want to see independent results of a year long study, done in a very entertaining way, I have included it below.

Enjoy... And remember, you're never too old to become younger or thinner.
