GH and DHEA - Should you seriously consider taking them? A look at the evidence...

In the medical field Hormone Replacement Therapy, especially in women, has not worked out the way they were originally hoping it would. In many cases it increased cancer rates and increased the risk of stroke and heart attacks, especially the hormones that are synthesized from animals, like Premarin.

In the nutritional world, 2 hormones derived from natural sources have had major benefits in some and mixed benefits in others. These 2 hormones are DHEA, a master adrenal hormone and GH, Growth Hormone, produced normally by the pituitary gland.

These 2 hormones produce all the other hormones we need, but tend to decline as we age. I have listed articles below for you to evaluate and consider. They are reliable sources and will give you the information you need to decide if they might be worth trying in your case.

Life extensionists use and recommend these products as a way to reverse age related issues associated with declining hormone levels found in aging adults.
I have also listed at the bottom a great source for product, if you decide you are interested. MBI, or Molecular Biologics has been around for over 25 years, and the products are formulated by biochemist Ned Jensen. I have worked with Ned and his company since my early days in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ned explains the value of taking these products, so be sure to click on the links and read his comments, too.
Enjoy this week's articles, and remember...
You are never too old to get younger.

DHEA Restoration Therapy - Hormone Replacement Therapy...
It's no accident that youth is associated with high levels of hormones. Produced throughout the body, sex hormones are critical to maintaining vibrancy and good health. In recent decades, scientists have begun to understand the powerful benefits of replacing hormones lost to aging. However, there are serious questions about the safety of conventional hormone replacement therapy, which relies on hormones that are synthesized from animals (Premarin ®) or created in a lab (Provera ®). Most recently, the widespread prescribing of these two hormones among menopausal women has come under scientific scrutiny because of the increased risk of stroke and heart attack.
As an alternative, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy may be one of the best things aging people can do for themselves because of the wide-ranging benefits of bioidentical hormones on everything from the cardiovascular system to the aging brain and bones. What is required, however, is an approach that harnesses the wisdom of the body and relies on bioidentical hormones to replace those that decline with age.
In 1981, Life Extension introduced dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in an article that described the multiple anti-aging effects of this steroid hormone. At the time, DHEA replacement therapy was almost unheard of. Today, however, DHEA replacement therapy has been studied extensively, and decreased DHEA levels have been implicated in heart disease, high cholesterol, depression, inflammation, immune disorders, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, HIV, and osteoporosis (Hauffa BP et al 1984; Valenti G 2002; Valenti G et al 2004).

Why DHEA May Be the Best-Validated Anti-Aging Supplement...
Recently, new side effects were announced for the popular osteoporosis drug known as Fosamax®. Apparently, many Fosamax® users find themselves with the troubling condition known as osteonecrosis of the jaw, in which the jaw bone essentially dies. Unfortunately, those experiencing osteoporosis are presented with little choice other than to take the drug and hope for the best. Now, strong evidence suggests that ensuring optimal levels of DHEA may help to slow bone loss and guard against the crippling effects of osteoporosis.
Studies of both men and women have demonstrated that low levels of DHEA are associated with bone loss through mechanisms related to altered mineral absorption and metabolism, as well as through inflammatory processes. In younger people, normal DHEA levels stimulate adequate production of a substance called insulin-like growth factor 1, which maintains new bone formation. Healthy DHEA levels also suppress production of interleukin-6, an inflammatory cytokine that causes bone breakdown (resorption), thus preventing bone loss. Decreasing DHEA levels are associated with diminished levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 and higher levels of interleukin-6, creating a situation in which bone loss exceeds new bone formation.

DHEA: A Master Hormone in Search of Its Identity...
At sixty-seven, Amy Woolfe found that even getting out of bed in the morning took almost as much energy as she had. "I've gotten used to feeling bad," she told me. "It becomes a way of life." Amy, a mild diabetic, was so tired that I considered diagnosing her condition as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But, when I tried her out on DHEA, in less than thirty days she came back and told me, "I've never had so much energy in my life. I feel like I'm twenty-five again." That was three or four years ago, pretty early in my career as a doctor who prescribes hormones. I was amazed then; nowadays I hear similar stories from other men and women and am not surprised.

HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE TO CORRECT AGE-RELATED, ADULT GROWTH HORMONE DEFICIENCY...
Growth hormone, secreted by the pituitary gland, is a small protein-like hormone (peptide), similar to insulin. The HGH molecule is twice as large, however, making manufacture and administration more expensive. Commonly referred to as human growth hormone or "HGH," it is difficult to measure directly. HGH is secreted in very brief pulses during the early hours of sleep and remains in the circulation for only a few minutes. It is quickly bound to HGH receptors throughout the body, and some is taken into the liver and converted into somatomedin-C, another small peptide hormone (also known as insulin-like growth factor-one or IGF-I). IGF-1 is responsible for some but not all of the activity of growth hormone in the body. IGF-1 levels in the blood remain much more constant and can be measured in the laboratory as the most accurate indirect indicator of total daily HGH production. During adolescence, when growth is most rapid, production of HGH is very high. That is why it was named "growth hormone." Even after growth stops, however, growth hormone must continue to be present (at somewhat lower levels) throughout life to maintain physical and mental health and well-being. Tissue repair, healing, cell replacement, organ integrity, bone strength, brain function, enzyme production, integrity of hair, nails, skin and vital organs all require the ongoing availability of adequate growth hormone. After age 20, growth hormone production falls progressively and consistently at an average rate of about 14% per decade. By age 60, it is not uncommon to measure a growth hormone loss of 75% or more. Physical decline with age correlates directly with decreased secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland.

The Growing Impact of Growth Hormone...
Studies and real-life stories from everyday people show that growth hormone replacement therapy can have a dramatic effect on regaining youthful vitality, increasing muscle mass, improving immune function, bettering learning and memory, and lowering blood pressure.
On July 5, 1990, the New England Journal of Medicine published a clinical study on a drug that sent shock waves throughout the world. The drug-human growth hormone, HGH for short, or simply GH, a substance produced naturally by the pituitary gland-was hailed as a fountain of youth. Injections of synthetic human growth hormone had turned 12 men, ages 61 to 81, and with flabby, frail, fat-bulging bodies, into sleeker, stronger, younger selves.
After just six months of treatment, the men gained an average of 8.8 percent in lean body mass, and lost an average of 14.4 percent in fat mass. In addition, their skin thickened by 7.1 percent, the bone density of their lumbar spines increased by 1.6 percent, their livers grew by 19 percent, and their spleens by 17 percent. In language rarely used in conservative medical journals, Daniel Rudman, M.D., and his colleagues at the Medical College of Wisconsin, wrote, "The effects of six months of human growth hormone on lean body mass and adipose-tissue mass were equivalent in magnitude to the changes incurred during 10 to 20 years of aging."

The Miracle of Adult Stem Cells, and how to get them working for you NOW!

Today I am devoting my entire blog to the power of Adult Stem Cells, and how new research is showing that you can use a natural super food supplement called AFA, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, to stimulate the production, as well as the migration of your own stem cells, from your own bone marrow.

AFA, is a fresh water, edible species of blue-green algae known to be one of the oldest and most nutritious foods on the planet. It grows primarily in Klamath Lake, in Oregon, as a wild aquatic algae. This simple organism contains complete nutrition in its most basic form providing all the building blocks required for ideal health.

Recently, extensive research was performed by the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Canada, led by Dr. Gitte S. Jensen, on the effect of AFA on the immune and endocrine systems, as well as general blood physiology. The results were amazing. It was discovered that consuming AFA had a profound and unique effect on natural killer cells.

Here were the results...
“Effects of the Blue Green Algae Aphanizomenon flos-aquae on Human Natural Killer Cells,” Chapter 3.1 of the IBC Library Series, Volume 1911, “Phytoceuticals: Examining the health benefit and pharmaceutical properties of natural antioxidants and phytochemicals.”
The results were as follows:
Within two hours after eating 1.5 grams of AFA, an average of 40% of the blood natural killer cells (one billion) left the bloodstream and migrated into the tissues. They further discovered that in some cases the natural killer cells remaining in the bloodstream had two to three times as many adhesion molecules as they did before the AFA was consumed. After a few hours, the natural killer cells returned to the bloodstream.

Other health benefits of AFA have been reported for more than two decades, however, it was only recently that Dr. Christian Drapeau discovered the science that fully explained the mechanisms by which AFA acts on the body.

The following are the most notable benefits attributed to the consumption of large amounts of AFA, as reported by Paula Rothstein in her article "ADULT STEM CELLS: Are these Master Cells the Elixir of Youth?":

1) stimulates the release of stem cells from the bone marrow and, therefore, stands as an unequaled natural product for regeneration and healing
2) stimulates the migration of natural killer cells, a type of lymphocyte involved in eliminating cancerous and virtually infected cells, offering powerful immune support
3) an excellent source of highly bioavailable Omega-3 fatty acids, carotenoids, and chlorophyll which promote a healthy heart and benefits the treatment of ADD
4) Contains phycocyanin, the blue pigment, which helps prevent inflammation and pain and protect the body against heavy metal toxicity and pesticides
5) significant source of phenylethylamine (PEA), known to increase mental alertness, concentration, elevate mood, and alleviate depression and symptoms of ADD
6) contains a unique and potent anti-inflammatory
7) rich source of vitamins and minerals.

What I have tried to do below is give you information in both written and video form so you can see just how important this discovery is.

I start by giving you a glimpse of the power of stem cell medicine, as described by a famous futurist and medical doctor, Dr Patrick Dixon, author of Futurewise. Watch 3/4 of the video, until he gets into explaining how longer healthier lives will effect the forecasts for life insurance and pensions risk.

Next I introduce you to Dr. Christian Drapeau, and his research on AFA, and his new product called Stem Enhance. Stem Enhance is a concentrated version of AFA, concentrating on just a few nutrients that are contained in the whole wild AFA algae. It is concentrated at a 5 to 1 ratio.

It is my personal belief that it is always better to use the whole nutraceutical, herb, or phytonutrient compound, rather than a fractured version of it, even though it is more efficient based on how many capsules or tablets you have to take.

All of the research that led to the discovery of the amazing benefits of AFA were observed over decades using the whole wild blue-green aquatic algae.

AFA is very powerful and should be taken in small amounts and then built up over time, to a level that will achieve the stimulating and migrating benefits described by Dr. Drapeau in his research. It can be cleansing in the beginning and it does increase mental function and clarity to a very high level. So take it slow and build up if you decide to try it. I don't recommend you take it at night as it can cause brain churn.

Based on Drapeau's research and his double blind studies, the consumption level of 10 grams of wild AFA, divided into 2 dosage times, 5,000 mgs upon awakening (10 tablets), then 5,000 mgs (10 tablets) about 6 hours later. This consumption level, according to Dr. Drapeau, will support the release of as many as 4 million new stem cells into the blood stream, thereby assisting the body in regaining and maintaining optimal health. A greater number of circulating stem cells equals greater health.

This is what I recently started doing. First I built up slowly taking 2 tablets, twice a day, then 3, then 4 etc, until I could handle 10 tablets twice a day. I take the whole wild AFA from NSI, called Klamath Blue-Green Algae. It is a high quality product wild crafted and freeze dried to protect nutrient status.

If you want to try it for yourself, try the small bottle first, then if you like it, try the 500 tablet bottle for price and convenience there after.

Enjoy the research and remember...

It is never too late to become younger.

Christian Drapeau on Adult Stem Cell Therapy... Video
Dr. Christian Drapeau has been pioneering the research for the past two decades on the key nutrient in StemEnhance, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA) responsible for the release and migration of millions of adult stem cells. AFA is a fresh water, edible species of blue-green algae known to be one of the oldest and most nutritious foods on the planet. This simple organism is complete nutrition in its most basic form, providing the building blocks of health.

Christian Drapeau's theory that Adult Stem Cells are nothing less than the human body's natural healing system has profound implications for every area of modern medicine.
The idea that heart disease, diabetes, liver degeneration, and other medical conditions could become things of the past is no longer science fiction: because of recent Adult Stem Cell research breakthroughs, these are real possibilities in the short term.
Over the past few years a number of studies have demonstrated that an important parameter in the stem cell system of renewal is the number of circulating stem cells. The higher the number of circulating stem cells, the higher the number of stem cells available to migrate in various organs and tissues. As they migrate in tissues, stem cells become cells of that tissue, regenerating the tissue.
For example, the risk of cardiovascular disease was linked to the number of circulating stem cells; less stem cells circulating in the blood was linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. It is now know that stem cells are attracted to the heart when the heart is lacking oxygen. As they migrate in the heart, stem cells can differentiate and form new capillaries that bring oxygen and nutrients, reducing the risk of heart attack for example. Similar observations were made with other diseases such as muscular dystrophy where the rate of progression of the disease has been linked to the number of stem cells circulating in the blood, to the point that the number of circulating stem cells has been shown to be one of the most important predictors of disease progression. Likewise, the progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension, arthritis, atherosclerosis, lupus erythematosus, kidney failure, and even migraine have all been linked to a reduction in the number of circulating stem cells.
Therefore, recent studies in the field of stem cells research suggest that the next important parameter in health will not be your cholesterol level, or the level of oxidative stress and inflammation in the body, but the number of circulating stem cells. More stem cells in your blood, the greater your health. So anything that can increase the number of circulating stem cells would contribute to improving your health.

Christian Drapeau, MSc., Chief Science Officer - 45 min. Video on Stem Enhance...
Dr. Drapeau explains why he developed his product Stem Enhance. He markets this product through a Network Marking Program. While you can get the same benefits from taking AFA as a whole supplement, like I do, he explains the science behind why you might want to consider taking either his product or the whole wild blue-green AFA.

If you are working on the heart, make sure you are taking plenty of C as well. Here is why...
Richard T. Lee, M.D., senior author of a study published by the American Heart Association says: "We have been taught for decades that when your heart cells are dead, they are dead and there is nothing we can do about it.We are excited about anything suggesting that we can grow more heart cells."Lee and his colleagues tested 880 bioactive substances – including drugs and vitamins – approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to see if they stimulated the mouse stem cells to become heart muscle cells. The cells were genetically altered to give off a fluorescent bright green color when viewed under a microscope if they had become heart muscle cells."We only got 1 out of the 880 to light up, and that was from ascorbic acid, the chemical commonly known as vitamin C," says Lee, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and a lecturer in biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.

How to deal with food allergies & intolerance's...

Affecting perhaps as many as 50 million Americans, food allergies and intolerances can really lower one's quality of life and affect a person's productivity at work, home, or in any athletic pursuit you might be inclined to enjoy. Common food allergies can come from eating peanuts, shell fish, milk and dairy products, chocolate, strawberries, corn, eggs, soy, and wheat, as well as many others.

If it's a food intolerance, taking digestive enzymes can really help. I take a food enzyme with each meal to mimic eating raw foods when some of what I eat has been cooked, which destroys the natural enzymes contained to pre-digest the food, before it leaves the stomach. The product I like and use is Advanced Enzyme Systems, by Rainbow Light. If you are over 40 and have low HCL levels which affect protein and mineral digestion, MBI has a great product called Bio-Gest. You can click on the MBI link and then click Natural Remedies, then Digestive Aids to find it. If you are very intolerant, you may need to take both, especially if you are over 40 years old, when HCL levels begin to wean.

If you are truly allergic, then your immune system is treating that food as an allergen, and you may have to not eat that food any more or consider taking Antigens to overcome the allergy. MBI has an assortment of Homeopathic Oral Antigens that are taken under the tongue, so even children can take them. In my opinion they're as good or better than shots and much easier and less expensive to use.
They can treat food allergies as well as air borne issues, like grasses, weeds, trees, dust, yeast, molds, etc.
To check them out click on the MBI website, click on Natural Remedies and then Allergy Products.

Also for air borne as well as food allergies, I formulated a complete product designed to provide natural anti-histamine as well as general immune support for allergy symptoms called ALLERBLOC.
If taken daily, it helps block allergic responses before they occur without any tiredness or loss of energy. Give it a try.

Enjoy this week's articles and studies...

And remember, you are never too old to become younger.

Source Of Major Health Benefits In Olive Oil Revealed...
Scientists have pinned down the constituent of olive oil that gives greatest protection from heart attack and stroke. In a study of the major antioxidants in olive oil, Portuguese researchers showed that one, DHPEA-EDA, protects red blood cells from damage more than any other part of olive oil.

Smoking And High Blood Pressure Each Account For One In Five Deaths In US Adults...
Smoking, high blood pressure and being overweight are the leading preventable risk factors for premature mortality in the United States, according to a new study led by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), with collaborators from the University of Toronto and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

Magnesium may benefit blood pressure in hypertensives...
Supplemental magnesium may reduce blood pressure people with high blood pressure, but seemingly normal magnesium levels, says a new study from Korea. On the other hand, the supplements had no effect on the blood pressure measurements of normo-tensive individuals, according to findings published online in Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases.
“These findings suggest that magnesium supplementation may help prevent the progression of hypertension in normo-magnesemic non-diabetic overweight people with higher BP, although mechanisms of counter-regulation preventing further BP increase remain to be elucidated,” wrote the researchers from Pusan National University.
The study adds to findings from epidemiological studies which reported that more magnesium, potassium and calcium may reduce the risk of hypertension in certain populations.

Common Cooking Spice Found In Curry Shows Promise In Combating Diabetes And Obesity...
Turmeric, an Asian spice found in many curries, has a long history of use in reducing inflammation, healing wounds and relieving pain, but can it prevent diabetes? Since inflammation plays a big role in many diseases and is believed to be involved in onset of both obesity and Type 2 diabetes, Drew Tortoriello, M.D., an endocrinologist and research scientist at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center, and his colleagues were curious what effect the herb might have on diabetic mice. Dr. Tortoriello, working with pediatric resident Stuart Weisberg, M.D., Ph.D., and Rudolph Leibel, M.D., fellow endocrinologist and the co-director of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, discovered that turmeric-treated mice were less susceptible to developing Type 2 diabetes, based on their blood glucose levels, and glucose and insulin tolerance tests. They also discovered that turmeric-fed obese mice showed significantly reduced inflammation in fat tissue and liver compared to controls. They speculate that curcumin, the anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant ingredient in turmeric, lessens insulin resistance and prevents Type 2 diabetes in these mouse models by dampening the inflammatory response provoked by obesity.

Vitamin D deficiency accelerates atherosclerosis in type 1 diabetics...
"Vitamin D deficiency is common worldwide and could be a novel risk factor for the development of coronary artery atherosclerosis," says Ramachandra B. Naik, MD, of the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, University of Colorado, Denver.
Dr. Naik presented study results indicating that although vitamin D (25-OHD) deficiency is not increased among type 1 diabetes patients, a deficiency in this patient population is associated with the initiation and acceleration of coronary artery calcification.
Furthermore, researchers have identified vitamin D-receptor gene (VDR) polymorphisms that may be responsible for lower 25-OHD levels. "There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that vitamin D deficiency with VDR polymorphism may accelerate atherosclerosis," Dr. Naik says.

Vitamin D linked to successful weight loss with dieting...
Increased intakes of vitamin D may improve weight loss while following a calorie-restricted diet, according to new findings from the US.
For every increase of 1 ng/mL in level of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol – a measure of vitamin D status - subjects ended up losing almost 0.2 kg more on their calorie-restricted diet, suggest findings presented at the Endocrine Society's 91st Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
Furthermore, for each 1-ng/mL increase in the active form of vitamin D (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol), subjects lost 0.107 kg more.
“Our results suggest the possibility that the addition of vitamin D to a reduced-calorie diet will lead to better weight loss,” said the study's lead author, Shalamar Sibley, MD, from the University of Minnesota.

Red Wine Compound Resveratrol Demonstrates Significant Health Benefits...
The benefits of alcohol are all about moderation. Low to moderate drinking – especially of red wine – appears to reduce all causes of mortality, while too much drinking causes multiple organ damage. A mini-review of recent findings on red wine's polyphenols, particularly one called resveratrol, will be published in the September issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research; the review is also available at Early View.

Antibiotics Take Toll On Beneficial Microbes In Gut...
It’s common knowledge that a protective navy of bacteria normally floats in our intestinal tracts. Antibiotics at least temporarily disturb the normal balance. But it’s unclear which antibiotics are the most disruptive, and if the full array of “good bacteria” return promptly or remain altered for some time. In studies in mice, University of Michigan scientists have shown for the first time that two different types of antibiotics can cause moderate to wide-ranging changes in the ranks of these helpful guardians in the gut. In the case of one of the antibiotics, the armada of “good bacteria” did not recover its former diversity even many weeks after a course of antibiotics was over.

Breathe Right: The Surprising Link between Asthma and Vitamin D...
Vitamin D sure is in the news a lot lately. In fact, a recent statistic showed that up to 80 percent of American adults are deficient in vitamin D! That’s a startling fact, especially considering all of the health benefits vitamin D can have, from keeping your heart healthy to staving off dementia and cancer. Now, a new study has shown that there’s an asthma-vitamin D connection – especially if you’re a mom-to-be. Let’s take a look at this recent discovery.

New Evidence That Vinegar May Be Natural Fat-fighter...
Researchers in Japan are reporting new evidence that the ordinary vinegar — a staple in oil-and-vinegar salad dressings, pickles, and other foods — may live up to its age-old reputation in folk medicine as a health promoter. They are reporting new evidence that vinegar can help prevent accumulation of body fat and weight gain.

Med diet components linked to longer life: Study...
Consuming a Mediterranean-style diet, rich in vegetables, fruits and nuts, olive oil, and legumes, may lead to longer life, according to a new study from Greece.
Results of the Greek segment of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and nutrition (EPIC) suggest that cereals and dairy products didn’t make a major contribution, while moderate alcohol consumption and low meat consumption were linked to longer life.
“An analysis of this type cannot provide universally applicable results, because diet varies across populations and also between sections of the same population,” wrote the researchers in the British Medical Journal.

The Healthiest Foods On Earth...
What is the best diet for human beings?
Vegetarian? Vegan? High-protein? Low-fat? Dairy-Free?
Hold on to your shopping carts: There is no perfect diet for human beings. At least not one that's based on how much protein, fat or carbohydrates you eat.
People have lived and thrived on high-protein, high-fat diets (the Inuit of Greenland); on low-protein, high-carb diets (the indigenous peoples of southern Africa); on diets high in raw milk and cream (the people of the Loetschental Valley in Switzerland); diets high in saturated fat (the Trobriand Islanders) and even on diets in which animal blood is considered a staple (the Massai of Kenya and Tanzania). And folks have thrived on these diets without the ravages of degenerative diseases that are so epidemic in modern life--heart disease, diabetes, obesity, neurodegenerative diseases, osteoporosis and cancer.

A trip to the ER, for the HealthBlogger... Oh My!!!!

Well, as most of you know, I have heart damage that goes back about 7 years. I have a very damaged Mitral Valve, with at times, very bad regurgitation into the wrong chambers. It is bad enough to be considered CHF, Congestive Heart Failure.

I have manged it without drugs for most of this time, in good fashion, but last week it flared up from Stage 1 to stage 4, or Acute Pulmonary Edema, which also caused edema in my legs, as well. I had 12 lbs of fluid to contend with as well as extreme breathlessness. I was basically drowning from my own body fluids. It caused me to have extreme Panic Attacks which kept me from sleeping for over 30 hours straight.

So, needless to say, I checked myself into the ER so they could stabilize me and I am now back home recuperating. To do that required 4 heavy weight drugs, a strong sleeping pill, and a time released form of Potassium.

They did a great job, as emergency medicine is where modern medicine shines, but now I have to wean myself off these meds and figure out what went wrong.

Anyway, I am still here to get you thinking about prevention before crisis, which sometimes comes even if you are doing almost everything right most of the time.

Enjoy this week's studies and articles, and remember...

It's NEVER TOO LATE to become younger!!!

AstraZeneca Seroquel Studies ‘Buried,’ Papers Show...
Feb. 27 (Bloomberg) -- AstraZeneca Plc “buried” unfavorable studies on its antipsychotic drug Seroquel, according to an internal e-mail unsealed as part of litigation over the medicine.
The drugmaker failed to publicize results of at least three clinical trials of Seroquel and engaged in “cherry picking” of data from one of those studies for use in a presentation, an AstraZeneca official said in a December 1999 e-mail unsealed yesterday under an agreement between the company and lawyers for patients. The London-based company faces about 9,000 lawsuits claiming it failed to properly warn users that Seroquel can cause diabetes and other health problems.
“The larger issue is how we face the outside world when they begin to criticize us for suppressing data,” John Tumas, an AstraZeneca publications manager, told colleagues in the e-mail.
More than 15,000 patients have sued AstraZeneca, claiming the company withheld information of a connection between diabetes and Seroquel use from doctors and patients. Many of the lawsuits also claim AstraZeneca promoted Seroquel, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, for unapproved uses.

New Approach Discovered To Lowering Triglycerides...
Studies done with laboratory rats suggest that supplementation of their diet with lipoic acid had a significant effect in lowering triglycerides, which along with cholesterol levels and blood pressure, are one of the key risk factors in cardiovascular disease. In the lab animals, supplements of lipoic acid lowered triglyceride levels up to 60 percent. If the effect were the same in humans – which is not yet clear – that would be a greater impact than found with other dietary supplements, and similar to the effects of some prescription drugs.

VITAMIN C HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CURE OVER 30 MAJOR DISEASES FOR OVER 50 YEARS...
Progress takes time, unfortunately. Fresh fruit was known to cure scurvy by 1753, yet governments ignored the fact for nearly 100 years. Countless thousands died in the meantime. The 19th century doctor who first advocated washing one's hands between patients died ignored and in disgrace with the medical profession. Toxic mercury was used as medicine into the twentieth century. And so it has been.
The first physician to aggressively use vitamin C to cure diseases was Frederick R. Klenner, M.D. beginning back in the early 1940's. Dr. Klenner consistently cured chicken pox, measles, mumps, tetanus and polio with huge doses of the vitamin. While vaccines are now available for these illnesses, please remember this was not the case in the 1940's.

Vitamin D is Called the Sunshine Vitamin for Good Reason...
Vitamin D is not a vitamin but a hormone. It is unique in that it is made in the skin as a result of exposure to sunlight. Photosynthesis of vitamin D has been occurring on earth for more than 750 million years. Some of the earliest life forms that were exposed to sunlight for their energy requirement were also photosynthesizing vitamin D. Both children and adults have in the past depended on adequate sun exposure to satisfy their vitamin D requirement. It is well documented that at the turn of the last century upwards of 80% of children in the industrialized, polluted cities of northern Europe and northeastern United States suffered from the devastating consequences of vitamin D deficiency rickets. The skin has a large capacity to make vitamin D. Exposure of a person in a bathing suit to a minimal erythemal dose of sunlight, which is typically no more than 15-20 minutes on Cape Cod in June or July at noon time, is the equivalent to taking 20,000 IU of vitamin D orally. It is now well documented that in the absence of any sun exposure 1,000 IU of vitamin D3 a day is necessary to maintain healthy levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in the circulation. An analysis of the NHANES III data has demonstrated that neither children nor adults are receiving an adequate amount of vitamin D from their diet or from supplements.

Caffeine Shown As Effective At Reducing Exercise-induced Asthma Symptoms As An Albuterol Inhaler...
An Indiana University study found that the ingestion of caffeine within an hour of exercise can reduce the symptoms of exercise induced asthma (EIA).
A large dose -- 9 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight -- was as effective as the use of an albuterol inhaler, which is commonly used to treat or prevent exercise-induced asthma. Smaller amounts of caffeine -- for example, 3 and 6 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight -- also reduced the wheezing, coughing and other symptoms of EIA.

New Model Of Cancer Development: Low Vitamin D Levels May Have Role...
In studying the preventive effects of vitamin D, researchers at the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego, have proposed a new model of cancer development that hinges on a loss of cancer cells' ability to stick together. The model, dubbed DINOMIT, differs substantially from the current model of cancer development, which suggests genetic mutations as the earliest driving forces behind cancer.

Prostate Cancer Screenings Essentially Useless...
(NaturalNews) Regular prostate cancer screening has no effect on the risk of death from the disease, according to a large-scale, long-term study conducted by researchers from the National Cancer Institute and published online in the New England Journal of Medicine. "There was little or no scientific evidence that it saved lives," said Otis Brawley, chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society.

St. John's Wort Again Proven Better than Antidepressant Drugs...
(NaturalNews) The popular herbal extract St. John's wort is more effective at treating the symptoms of depression than any antidepressant drug, and has fewer side effects, researchers from the Centre for Complementary Medicine in Munich have concluded. "Overall, the St John's Wort extracts tested in the trials were superior to placebo, similarly effective as standard anti-depressants, and had fewer side effects than standard anti-depressants," lead researcher Klaus Linde said.

Bypassing Bypass Surgery: New Blood Vessels Grown To Combat Heart Disease...
Although open-heart surgery is a frequent treatment for heart disease, it remains extremely dangerous. Now groundbreaking research from Dr. Britta Hardy of Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine has shown the potential for an injected protein to regrow blood vessels in the human heart — eliminating the need for risky surgery altogether.
