What is the best sugar substitute these days?

When it comes to alternatives to sugar I must admit I have come a little late to the party.   I just don't use sweeteners in my house as a rule.  Sugar is not my thing.  I am German mostly and I love fats and salts.  Never met a sausage or salami I didn't like or potato chips either. Those are my issues to stay away from.

But a few years ago I did research on a new sugar that lowers tooth decay and even helps remineralize your teeth.   I have been using a tooth paste with this sugar ever since.   The sugar is called Xylitol.

Now recent research suggests that it has many health benefits and perhaps is the best choice for most of you as an alternative to table sugar or honey.

Also hearing great things about Coconut Palm Sugar, but haven't tried it yet.

Here are some links to look at for your own research:

To age or not to age... A 5 week study that blew everyone away...

Can you radically change the health of the human body in 5 weeks by changing diet?  That was what these scientists set out to prove.  "To Age or Not to Age" is a one-hour documentary following health guru Leslie Kenton on her quest to discover a remedy for aging.
The documentary follows the progress of eight people on a five week trial.  It includes interviews with medical practitioners, exercise physiologists, naturapaths, traditional healers, and scientists that allow the trial group and viewers an insight into the aging process and ways in which it might be reversed. The results of the trial were astounding and startled even Leslie Kenton herself.
The documentary is a beacon of hope.  By demonstrating that through a combination of orthodox medicine and natural health practices we may learn to prevent degenerative diseases, free up hospital waiting lists, and enjoy aging with enthusiasm, vitality, and health.
Everyone's program was designed to eat masses of green leafy foods and more fish, meat, and chicken.   They were asked to cut out all breads, cereals, and sweets of any kind and to drink lots of water.  They were also asked to cut out other starchy foods like rice and potatoes.  The one test they focused on most was Serum Insulin levels which aren't check routinely by your doctor but what I and other health scientists believe is the number one factor in healthy aging.  See what happened to their weight and levels of pain.
