If you are a women and often feel tired, mentally slow, cold, or have a lower than normal temperature - Listen up!!!

If you have subnormal thyroid levels, called Hypothyroid, the most common symptoms are dry skin, fatigue, dulling of mental faculties, depression, weight gain, constipation, aching joints, low blood pressure, high cholesterol, low libido, brittle nails, hair loss, and sensitivity to cold. If you have these symptoms and a thyroid test comes up within the normal range, it often still is a thyroid issue.

Dr.'s Broda Barnes and Stephen Langer recommend doing a Basal Metabolism Test, as do I. Why, because it is often more accurate in finding sub clinical hypothyroid issues, which may not show up in normal blood tests.

If you want to take one, click here for the directions.

Natural Thyroid products have advantages to synthetic drugs like Synthroid.
As a consumer, you have a choice on what you decide to take.

Good health to you all...

The Benefits of Whole Natural Thyroid ...
When it comes to thyroid therapy, nature’s product beats synthetic drugs.
By Dr. Edward R. Rosick
The pharmaceutical options available to doctors of today are certainly different from those available to their peers of just a hundred years ago. It seems that new drugs are being introduced every day, and most people assume that these new drugs are better than the old ones. But what if that’s not always true? Are some older medications being driven off the store shelves and the pages of medical journals for economic reasons rather than new scientific evidence? In the case of thyroid hormone replacement therapy, some physicians—especially those who tend to have a holistic medical philosophy—would say yes.

The stink in farts controls blood pressure... But I think if this catches on, it could back fire!!!

Ok, ok... I am all for lowering blood pressure without drugs, whenever possible, using alternative medicine, obviously, but I am not sure I am ready to go this far.

Think about it, if everyone started relying on using this approach to lowering blood pressure, say, in a elevator, a car or some other tightly enclosed structure, could this not actually cause the blood pressure of other passengers, to increase? I know mine would.
So, I cannot recommend this alternative approach, as I feel it could BACKFIRE!!!

Seriously though, this article did remind me that often in medicine, the cure can be worse than the disease.

Bill Sardi, one of my favorite medical research writers, talks about this in the second article for today's Blog... If you take drugs or are thinking of doing so, for say, acid reflux, you may want to read his report.

Enjoy good health...

The stink in farts controls blood pressure...
A smelly rotten-egg gas in farts controls blood pressure in mice, a new study finds.
The unpleasant aroma of the gas, called hydrogen sulfide (H2S), can be a little too familiar, as it is expelled by bacteria living in the human colon and eventually makes its way, well, out.
The new research found that cells lining mice's blood vessels naturally make the gas and this action can help keep the rodents' blood pressure low by relaxing the blood vessels to prevent hypertension (high blood pressure). This gas is "no doubt" produced in cells lining human blood vessels too, the researchers said.
"Now that we know hydrogen sulfide's role in regulating blood pressure, it may be possible to design drug therapies that enhance its formation as an alternative to the current methods of treatment for hypertension," said Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Solomon H. Snyder, M.D., a co-author of the study detailed in the Oct. 24th issue of the journal Science.
Snyder and his colleagues compared normal mice to mice that were missing a gene for an enzyme known as CSE, long suspected as being responsible for making hydrogen sulfide. As they measured hydrogen sulfide levels taken from tissues of the CSE-deficient mice, the scientists found that the gas was depleted in the cardiovascular systems of the altered mice. By contrast, normal mice had higher levels of the gas, thereby showing that hydrogen sulfide is naturally made by mammalian tissues using CSE.
Next, the mice were subjected to higher blood pressures comparable to serious hypertension in humans. Scientists had them respond to a chemical called methacholine that relaxes normal blood vessels. The blood vessels of the CSE-lacking mice hardly relaxed, indicating that hydrogen sulfide is a huge contender for regulating blood pressure.
Hydrogen sulfide is the most recently discovered member of a family of gasotransmitters, small molecules inside our bodies with important physiological functions.
This study is the first to reveal that the CSE enzyme that triggers hydrogen sulfide is activated itself in the same way as other enzymes when they trigger their respective gasotransmitter, such as a nitric oxide-forming enzyme that also regulates blood pressure, Dr. Snyder said.
Because gasotransmitters are common in mammals all over the evolutionary tree, these findings on the importance of hydrogen sulfide are thought to have broad applications to human diseases, such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases.
The research was supported by grants from the US Public Health Service and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research as well as a Research Scientist Award.

When the Cure Is Worse Than the Disease...
One way to build an income in private medical practice is to hook patients on drugs that continually require re-examination, testing and prescription renewal.
For example, blood thinners require prothrombin tests to determine how long it takes the blood to clot. Blood pressure pills require monitoring of blood pressure. And in the example above, once patients start taking acid-blocking medications they will find it is nearly impossible to stop taking them because withdrawal will provoke rebound acidity with throat-gripping pain.
Since the early 1990s it has been known that acid-blocking (histamine blocking) drugs commonly prescribed for heartburn create dependency. Withdrawal from the drug will create rebound hyper-acidity that causes the patient to reach for the antacid pills in desperation again. [1] , [2] To make matters worse, acid blockers may induce more, not less, disease. Stomach acid is a defense against invading pathogenic bacteria that enter the gut in food (foods are not sterile, but have low bacteria and mold counts that stomach acid normally kills). The habitual use of acid blockers may result in infection and even cancer. [3]
Most drugs don’t work, are inappropriate or are designed to make things worse.

One person dies every 33 seconds from heart disease, culminating in about 2600 deaths every single day. LEARN HOW TO NOT BE ONE OF THEM.

Whether you are concerned about heart disease or know someone who is currently dealing with it, I recommend you read this blog and pass it on to anyone you know who may need this vital information.

While many drugs have been created to treat heart disease, none of them CURE (reverse) it. They deal with altering negative symptoms like high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, increased heart rate, irregular heart rhythms, etc. While they can be helpful in making life better, with heart disease, did you know predominate alternative doctors around the world, have reversed heart disease, including reversal of enlarged hearts, sloppy valves, as well as clogged arteries and blockages. Examples: Dr. Rath, M.D., Dr. Steven Sinatra, M.D., Dr. Gary Gordon, M.D., DO, MD(H).

Dr Linus Pauling with his fellow collaborator, Dr Rath, published "A Unified Theory of Human Cardiovascular Disease Leading the Way to the Abolition of This Disease as a Cause for Human Mortality", in 1992. This monumental work has largely gone unnoticed because of the entrenched opinions and dogma of the mainstream medical community and their overseers, the multi-billion dollar international pharmaceutical industry. The fact that you have probably not heard about this discovery in the mainstream media is disturbing and speaks volumes on the power of big money and the effectiveness of the pharmaceutical industry's disinformation campaigns.

Pauline and Raths theory of CVD is so scientifically compelling and demonstrable that in 1994 they were granted the only US patent for the cure of cardiovascular disease. This was no small feat since the US Office of Patents will only grant a patent for an invention that has been demonstrated to work. The non-prescription therapy advocated by Pauling and Rath has become know as the Pauline Therapy. The efficacy of the Pauline Therapy has been amply proven in thousands of cardiovascular patients who have been so fortunate to discover the remarkable treatment. The Pauline and Rath heart protocols in lower dosage levels will prevent cardiovascular disease and in higher dosages will actually reverse arterial plaque build up and reverse heart disease! Heart patients moving to the Pauling Therapy commonly avoid open-heart surgery and angioplasty. This is accomplished by dealing directly with the root causes of CVD and arterial plaque buildup. Almost without exception patients experience rapid recovery.

How can this be? Is there really any proof that vitamin C can actually allow the heart to repair itself. I grew up being taught that was impossible. Here is but 1 sample of research that has come out recently that proves Pauling and Rath right.

"Richard T. Lee, M.D., senior author of a study published by the American Heart Association says: "We have been taught for decades that when your heart cells are dead, they are dead and there is nothing we can do about it. We are excited about anything suggesting that we can grow more heart cells. "Lee and his colleagues tested 880 bio active substances – including drugs and vitamins – approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to see if they stimulated the mouse stem cells to become heart muscle cells. The cells were genetically altered to give off a fluorescent bright green color when viewed under a microscope if they had become heart muscle cells. "We only got 1 out of the 880 to light up, and that was from ascorbic acid, the chemical commonly known as vitamin C," says Lee, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and a lecturer in biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass."

Why was this study not front page on every news paper in America?

In this blog I have listed as much research as one would need to evaluate the facts for themselves. I not only believe this information, I have experienced the results of these protocols, in both seeing incredible results in reversing my own heart damage, and seeing it return, when I took my eyes off the Pauling/Rath Protocol, while focusing on other anti-aging nutraceuticals.

Enjoy better health today... And start getting YOUNGER...

Cardiovascular Disease: Comprehensive Analysis...
Cardiovascular disease is rarely caused by a single frailty. Rather, it is a multifaceted failure that includes physical, psychological, and genetic weaknesses. Since cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer in Western societies, there is more published scientific information about its prevention and treatment than exists for other diseases. Overlooking just one risk factor, such as elevated levels of C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, or homocysteine, could lead to the development or worsening of the heart and/or vascular disease. The Cardiovascular Disease protocol is the most comprehensive chapter in this book; we urge persons concerned with the disease to study the chapter carefully.
At least 68 million people in the United States suffer from some form of heart disease, with an estimated 1.1 million Americans annually experiencing an acute myocardial infarction (MI or heart attack). According to current statistics released from the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease accounts for about 950,000 deaths annually (about 41% of total mortality from all causes); coronary heart disease accounts for 460,000 of those deaths. In fact, one person dies every 33 seconds from heart disease, culminating in about 2600 deaths every single day. Additionally, the scope of this insidious health problem is worldwide. Globally, cardiovascular disease accounts for almost 50% of all deaths (GSDL 2002).
Researchers reporting in the American Journal of Critical Care further unsettled the scientific community when they declared that 50% of patients with coronary artery disease do not have any of the traditional risk factors (Futterman et al. 1998). In fact, 50% of all individuals 50 years or younger who die from heart disease succumb without any established signs of heart disease. Does this mean that traditional risk factors are no longer valid? The intent of this material is to answer that question by providing a comprehensive review of contemporary and novel risk factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease and a complete dialogue regarding treatment options available to patients.

Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks - But People Do...
Dr. Matthias Rath, M.D.
Only once in the course of human events comes the time when heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular conditions are being eradicated. That time is now. Just as the discovery
that microorganisms are the cause of infectious diseases led to the control of infectious epidemics, so will the discovery that heart attacks and strokes are the result of long-term vitamin deficiencies lead to the control of the cardiovascular disease epidemic. Mankind can eradicate heart disease as a major cause of death and disability during the 21st century.
Animals don't get heart attacks because they produce vitamin C in their bodies, which protects their blood vessel walls. In humans, who are unable to produce vitamin C, dietary vitamin
deficiency of this nutrient weakens the blood vessel walls. Cardiovascular disease is an early form of scurvy. Clinical studies document that the optimum daily intake of vitamins and other
essential nutrients halts and reverses coronary heart disease naturally. These essential nutrients supply vital bioenergy to millions of heart and blood vessel cells, thereby optimizing
cardiovascular function. An optimum supply of vitamins and other essential nutrients can prevent and help correct cardiovascular conditions naturally. Heart attacks, strokes, high
blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, circulatory problems in diabetes and other cardiovascular problems will be essentially unknown in future generations.
The eradication of heart disease is the next great goal uniting all mankind. The availability of vitamins and other essential nutrients needed to control the global cardiovascular disease
epidemic is unlimited. The eradication of heart disease is dependent on one single factor: how fast we can spread the message that vitamins and other essential nutrients are the solution to the cardiovascular disease epidemic.

Heart Failure Patients Respond Well To Beta-blocker Drugs...
Heart failure patients who undergo beta-blocker therapy tolerated the treatment well and had less heart failure deterioration than placebo drugs, researchers at Yale School of Medicine and other institutions report in the July 12 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine. Beta-blockers are any of a group of drugs widely used in the treatment of patients with heart disease and hypertension. The drugs decrease the rate and force of heart contraction by blocking the beta-adrenergic receptors of the autonomic nervous system.

Reports of serious drug reactions hit record...
The number of serious drug reactions and deaths reported to the government shot up in the first three months of this year to set a new record, a health industry watchdog group said Wednesday. The Food and Drug Administration received nearly 21,000 reports of serious drug reactions, including more than 4,800 deaths, said an analysis of federal data by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices. Two drugs accounted for a large share of the latest reports. One was the blood thinner heparin. Most of the drug's problems were prompted by tainted heparin imported from China. The other was Chantix, a new kind of anti-smoking drug from Pfizer.

Vitamin C: There May Be a Modern Chronic Deficiency ...
Vitamin C. Mmmm . . . maybe you think of a tall glass of Florida orange juice. Or maybe you grab it at the beginning of the cold season. But would you associate it with cardiovascular disease (CVD) or cancer? Maybe you should. According to an article published in October 2007, in the Journal of Nutrition, there is accumulating scientific evidence that very large (therapeutic) doses of vitamin C may be effective in treating both CVD and cancer. In addition, some scientists have hypothesized that the onset of these common degenerative diseases may actually be due to a vitamin C deficiency in the general population. Dr. Steven Hickey and Dr. Hilary Roberts with the Vitamin C Foundation and authors of the book 'Ascorbate: the Science of Vitamin C', have gone so far as to suggest that heart disease is actually a chronic form of the vitamin C deficiency disease called scurvy. If we ate the recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, we'd easily consume double the RDA for vitamin C and likely a lot more. According to Linus Pauling, a two time Nobel Prize winning chemist who is noted for his vitamin C research, our early human ancestors probably consumed 2,300 mg/day to 9,500 mg/day of vitamin C from their plant-based diet. This is 25 to 100 times more than today's RDA for an adult man!

Dr Linus Pauling's Unified Theory of Cardiovascular Disease ...
Over ten years ago, the two-time Nobel prize Laureate, Dr Linus Pauling and his associate Dr Matthias Rath, advocated and published a definitive thesis on the root cause, treatment, and actual cure for all forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD), including congestive heart failure, heart disease, and stroke. Today, cardiovascular related health problems together comprise fully one half of all causes of death in the US. Pauling and Rath's brilliant analysis of CVD is absolutely compelling and amply supported by numerous epidemiological and clinical studies. His unified theory of CVD constitutes one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern science, and yet has been almost completely ignored by the mainstream medical establishment, and received almost no press.

Coronary Heart Disease Is an Early Form of Scurvy...
Dr. Rath’s research reveals that coronary heart disease occurs exactly for the same reason that clinical (early) scurvy does – a deficiency of vitamin C in the cells composing the artery wall. Humans, unlike animals, develop heart disease because their bodies cannot produce vitamin C. The average diet provides enough vitamin C to prevent scurvy, but not enough to guarantee stable artery walls. As a consequence of vitamin C deficiency, millions of tiny cracks and lesions develop in the artery walls. Subsequently, cholesterol, lipoproteins and other blood risk factors enter the damaged artery walls to repair these lesions.

ONE PHARMACIST’S VIEW OF CORONARY HEART DISEASE: COMPARING THE “LIPID THEORY” WITH THE “UNIFIED THEORY”...
By Mike Ciell, R.Ph.
Conventional wisdom argues that cholesterol, an oily substance produced in the body, is the enemy and must be managed to prevent coronary heart disease. Fighting cholesterol is inherent in the “Lipid Theory” of heart disease. Alternatively, Linus Pauling, two-time Nobel laureate and Ph.D. and Matthias Rath, M.D., created the “Unified Theory” of heart disease, identifying vitamin C, L-lysine, and L-proline as critical nutritional agents that could both improve blood vessel function (flow) and reduce cholesterol plaques (blockages). Some researchers have said that vitamin C is the equivalent of “nature’s perfect statin.”

CT Scans Causing Cancer in Patients, Many Scans Medically Unjustified...
A surge in the use of CT scans in the last 25 years has led to millions of patients per year being unnecessarily exposed to dangerous radiation that increases their risk of cancer, according to a paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine."It has been estimated that about 0.4 percent of all cancers in the United States may be attributable to the radiation from CT studies," the authors wrote. Because cancer can take a decade to appear, "this estimate might now be in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 percent" when adjusted for the current level of CT use.

Resveratrol and Curcumin Protect Against Neurodegenerative Diseases...
Modern medicine has verified the therapeutic value of curcumin, particularly as an anti-inflammatory agent with strong antioxidant properties. This makes it potentially useful in neurodegenerative diseases, in which both oxidative stress and inflammation play important roles. Curcumin acts as a neuroprotectant, shielding the brain’s neurons from some of the damage for which such diseases are notorious. Among the numerous specific actions that have been observed (in laboratory cell cultures) are the inhibition of amyloid-beta and the induction of heme oxygenase-1, an enzyme that protects against oxidative stress. The health of the world economy...

Normally I blog about health, wellness and anti-aging news, but today I thought I would help people understand what's going on in this financial crisis and just how bad it really is.

60 Minutes did a very good job explaining the problem and who's to blame, in layman's terms, and if you missed it, I think you should watch these set of video segments. If you thought 700 Billion was a lot to pay to get bailed out, try 60 Trillion on for size. That is how big this blow up is and why, even though it was created here by Wall Street, it has now effected every country in the world, and yes, it will effect you and I, if it hasn't already.

Click on the link below and then push PLAY on the first segment called "A Full Blown Financial Storm". It should automatically show you a set of segments, one after another, with a few short ads thrown in of coarse. These will explain better than I have seen explained anywhere else, who, why and how this all got started and just how big it really is.
It's short and to the point, just the highlights.

Stay healthy and watch your stress levels... Nutritional needs go way up in times like these.

How to improve your odds of losing weight...

Today, my focus is on news that relates to weight loss and metabolism. These concepts will perhaps challenge your beliefs on what you think you knew about fats, especially saturated fats, the amount of protein you should consume daily, and when and how often, you should eat meals throughout the day. Also, I have included a study that shows the positive effects of adding CLA, as a supplement, into your program, and why I use 2,000 mgs of this nutrient in my Scale Down Multi. Also, many people, especially women have low thyroid levels that go untreated, because of the way doctors test the thyroid by means of blood tests.
Learn what the symptoms are when you have low thyroid and how you can test it yourself at home.

CLA Reduces Body Fat in Animal Model of Human Infancy...
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) reduced body fat in an animal model of human childhood, leading researchers to suggest that CLA could play a role in helping reduce obesity in human children.
Childhood obesity is an increasing problem and may predispose children to adult obesity. Weight gain during infancy has been linked to excessive weight later in life. CLA has been shown to reduce fat gain and body fat mass in animal models and in humans, leading researchers to believe they may have the same effects in children.

Is it time to revisit the current protein recommendations?...
Current protein recommendations were established with the goal of preventing deficiency, but newer research indicates that many adults may benefit from eating more than the minimum requirement. These findings are presented in a supplement in the May issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition describing the conclusions of a Protein Summit held last spring, which brought together the world's leading scientists in protein research.
The summit's attendees report in the supplement that eating a higher protein diet - still within the recommended range, but toward the top of it - may play a role in optimal health, as higher protein diets are linked with a lower risk for many health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis as well as sarcopenia, the degenerative loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength.

What if bad fat isn’t so bad?, No one's ever proved that saturated fat clogs arteries, causes heart disease...
Suppose you were forced to live on a diet of red meat and whole milk. A diet that, all told, was at least 60 percent fat — about half of it saturated. If your first thoughts are of statins and stents, you may want to consider the curious case of the Masai, a nomadic tribe in Kenya and Tanzania.
In the 1960s, a Vanderbilt University scientist named George Mann, M.D., found that Masai men consumed this very diet (supplemented with blood from the cattle they herded). Yet these nomads, who were also very lean, had some of the lowest levels of cholesterol ever measured and were virtually free of heart disease.

Hypothyroidism - What your doctor may not tell you but you need to know...
Hypothyroidism is a common health condition affecting millions of women that is frequently overlooked in our health care system. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) estimates that 10% of Americans - more than the number of Americans with diabetes and cancer combined - suffer from thyroid disease. Many of these people are not receiving adequate care for a number of reasons. The AACE estimates that half of the people with thyroid disease are not being diagnosed. For those patients properly diagnosed, the standard conventional treatment is often ineffective. The bottom line is that millions of Americans are hypothyroid, many hypothyroid patients receive inadequate treatment, and millions more are hypothyroid and may never even know.

Snacks In Small Packages May Lead To Overeating...
Tempting treats are being offered in small package sizes these days, presumably to help consumers reduce portion sizes. Yet new research found that people actually consume more high-calorie snacks when they are in small packages than large ones. And smaller packages make people more likely to give in to temptation in the first place.

Regular Meals Reduce Risk Of Developing Metabolic Syndrome, Study Shows...
It is obvious to most people that our health is affected by what we eat; now, however, scientists have shown that it is also a matter of how often we eat. People who eat at irregular times run a greater risk of developing insulin resistance and what is known as metabolic syndrome, according to a study from the Swedish medical university Karolinska Institutet.

This cold & fu season, stop giving your kids cold medicines and start NOW with prevention...

FDA urged to recall cold medicines for youngsters...
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer
Thu Oct 2, 6:01 AM ET

With a new cold season coming, the government is trying once more to decide what to do about over-the-counter medicines for kids' coughs and sniffles. Doctors question the drugs' benefits and worry about their risks.
Pediatricians are urging the Food and Drug Administration, which scheduled a public hearing Thursday on the issue, to demand a recall of the medicines for children younger than 6.
"Parents should know that there is less evidence than ever to support the use of over-the-counter cough and cold medicines for young children," said Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Baltimore's health commissioner. "There is nothing that is holding the FDA back from asking for a voluntary recall now of products marketed to kids under 6."
U.S. families spend at least $286 million a year on such cough and cold remedies for children, according to the Nielsen Co. market research firm. In any given week the medicines are used by an estimated 10 percent of all children, with the biggest exposure among 2- to 5-year-olds, a recent Boston University report found.
But colds usually clear up on their own after a few days. Many doctors say rest and plenty of fluids are what it takes to get over a cold.
The FDA this year warned against giving OTC cold medicines to children younger than 2. At that time, officials said they expected to decide by spring on recommendations for youngsters up to 11. Now the agency is seeking more advice from doctors, industry and consumers.
The industry says OTC medicines have been used for decades in treating kids' colds and are safe for those older than 2. Nonetheless, manufacturers are carrying out new studies involving the most common ingredients in the medications. The companies voluntarily stopped selling cough and cold medicines for babies and toddlers last fall.
FDA advisers said that was not enough and recommended that the drugs not be used for children younger than 6. An expert panel said older children could keep taking the medications while studies are undertaken to settle scientific questions about safety and effectiveness.
It turns out that when the FDA set standards for cough and cold medicines some 30 years ago, no separate studies were done for kids.
Cough and cold medicines send about 7,000 children to hospital emergency rooms each year with symptoms ranging from hives and drowsiness to unsteady walking. Low doses of a medicine are not likely to cause a problem; the main risk comes from unintentional overdoses.
The same ingredients usually are found in different products. For example, giving a child a cough syrup and a decongestant could inadvertently lead to an overdose.
The Consumer Healthcare Products Association, which represents the manufacturers, says preventable errors are the problem, not the safety of the ingredients in the medicines. The industry is starting an educational campaign aimed at parents, doctors and day care providers on the importance of following directions and storing medicines in places where kids cannot get at them.
But Sharfstein said Maryland saw an immediate benefit after OTC cough and cold remedies for tots were removed from store shelves last fall. Calls to poison control about problems with the medicines involving children younger than 2 dropped by 40 percent, from 99 to 60, in the first six months of this year when compared with 2007. Calls involving children 2 to 6 also dropped, but by much less.
