Fats to Avoid: The Polyunsaturated Oil Epidemic...
(NaturalNews) They sit on the grocery store aisles, appearing rather innocent. They are clear and odorless - mainly because they have been bleached and deodorized with chemicals after high-heat processing has turned them rancid. And, interestingly enough, they are touted as a health food that can save your heart. They are polyunsaturated oils like soybean, canola and corn oil. They are industrialized oil, and they have reared their ugly heads at the health of modern society.

MS research highlights role of vitamin D...
Researchers at the Menzies Institute in Hobart have found that increasing vitamin D levels reduces the risk of getting Multiple Sclerosis by up to 50 per cent.

Folic Acid will Improve Your Wellbeing Dramatically...
(NaturalNews) Folic acid is also known as Vitamin B9 or Folacin. It is water soluble and essential to many bodily functions such as producing healthy red blood cells and preventing anemia. There are many benefits of folic acid; it inhibits colon cancer, prevents heart disease, and is beneficial for pregnant women. Folic acid is abundant in fruit, green leafy vegetables, beans and nuts, but it can also be bought in supplement form.

5 Beauty tips using the mineral Silicon... VIDEO
See from one of the worlds experts on minerals, herbs and super foods, David Wolfe, why silicon in more important than calcium.

Canola Oil: There is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
(NaturalNews) Corn oil comes from corn: sunflower oil from sunflowers, sesame oil from sesame seeds, peanut oil from peanuts, olive oil from olives, Canola oil from...Canolas? What is a Canola? And why is the word "Canola" capitalized?

Cancer Screening: Does It Really Save Lives?...
NaturalNews) Anne is a good patient. She sees her doctor for regular checkups, has yearly mammograms, Pap tests, and colon cancer screenings, and she even paid for a full-body CT scan out of her own pocket. She figures she's doing everything she can to make sure she doesn't get cancer. Truth is, Anne is doing nothing to prevent cancer. Although cancer screening is billed as a preventive service that saves lives, the best it can do is detect disease in its early stages, when it is supposedly easier to treat. Nevertheless, every year millions of Americans dutifully line up for their screenings, completely unaware that they may be doing more harm than good.

Understanding The Anticancer Effects Of Vitamin D3...
The active form of vitamin D3 seems to have anticancer effects. To try and understand the mechanisms underlying these effects, researchers previously set out to identify genes whose expression in a human colon cancer cell line was altered by the active form of vitamin D3.

An Apple A Day Keeps Kidney Stones Away: More Fruits And Veggies, Less Salt Prevents Stones From Forming...
Researchers have found another reason to eat well: a healthy diet helps prevent kidney stones. Loading up on fruits, vegetables, nuts, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains, while limiting salt, red and processed meats, and sweetened beverages is an effective way to ward off kidney stones, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society Nephrology (JASN).

Neurological Complications Of Heart Surgery...
Possible neurological complications of heart surgery, ranging from headaches to strokes, are detailed in a new report in the online journal MedLink Neurology.
In the most comprehensive and up-to-date review of its kind, researchers list possible nervous system complications of bypass surgeries, aortic surgery, cardiac catheterizations, valve replacements, heart transplants and surgeries for congenital heart disease and heart tumors.

Cat's Claw: Rainforest Plant Kills Cancer Cells and Provides Hope for Arthritis Relief...
(NaturalNews) Cat's claw, also know as Uncaria tomentosa and una de gato, is a vine from the Peruvian jungle. This plant has been used as medicine for over two thousand years by the Peruvian tribe, the Ashaninka. It is known by them as the "Sacred Herb of the Rain Forest." Cat's claw contains compounds called pentcyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) that have been shown to support the immune system, prevent cancers, and possibly treat AIDS. In Europe, the bark is combined with the AIDS drug AZT in some clinical trials.

Cardiac Deaths Peak In Sleep Hours For Patients With Sleep Apnea...
The 20 million Americans who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are more likely to die suddenly of cardiac causes between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. than during the other 16 hours of the day combined, according to findings of a Mayo Clinic study published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Kids' vitamin D levels "shockingly low" according to Children's Hospital researchers...
Is your child’s pediatrician screening for vitamin D levels?
He/she should be, according to the latest large study, published in Pediatrics, on vitamin D levels in children, which found that seven out of ten kids in the U.S. have dangerously low levels, increasing their risks of bone and heart disease, and other health problems.
Researchers looked at blood levels of vitamin D in more than 6,000 U.S. children, ages one to 21, collected from 2001-2004. They defined vitamin D deficiency as less than 15 ng/mL of blood, and vitamin D insufficiency as 15 to 29 ng/mL. Both deficiency and insufficiency were considered low. Nine percent of children were found to be deficient, and another 61% was found to have insufficient levels.

Chronic Kidney Disease Linked To Malfunctioning Mitochondria...
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been linked to oxidative stress caused by dysregulation of the genes that control mitochondria. A study in the open access journal BMC Genomics has revealed alterations in respiration gene expression in the white blood cells of CKD patients.

5 Simple Steps to Cure IBS without Drugs... VIDEO
60 million Americans suffer from IBS, and conventional medicine doesnt have a cure. In fact, many doctors will tell you the condition is all in your head. But there are ways you can treat the underlying causes of IBS. In this weeks UltraWellness blog Dr. Mark Hyman outlines 5 steps you can take to overcome IBS and heal from your digestive problems.

Statins Cause Serious Structural Muscle Damage...
(NaturalNews) If there is a super star in Big Pharma's list of money making drugs, it may well be the group of medications known as statins. The New York Times reported last year that statins are, in fact, the biggest selling drugs in the world. Their names, like Lipitor and Crestor, are familiar from countless television and magazine ads and almost everyone knows someone taking a statin. Promoted widely as safe, they are actually known to cause a litany of potential side effects. For example, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) web site notes that about one in 1,000 of those taking statins suffer from muscle pain. Usually, these aches go away. But not always. And now new research shows that in some people statins cause serious structural damage to muscles.

Try my program - it really is based on real science, not dribble...

As many of you know, I have a weight management and fat loss system called Forever Changes Weight-Loss and Longevity Lifestyle Program. It has taken over 25 years to fine tune it and I keep making it better based on the latest research.

Let me state some facts and the reasons why I think this is your best choice for correcting your weight issue, if you have one.
The facts I am stating are found on my weight loss page and are also described below in 3 medical lectures and an article. Please review them if you think I am nuts.
Obesity is a disorder of excess fat accumulation and not energy imbalance, over eating, or sedentary lifestyle. Some of these issues may contribute to the problem but they are not the cause. What regulates fat accumulation?
Fat accumulation is triggered by the type of foods we eat, when we eat them, and not the caloric content.
Fat accumulation is caused by Insulin, which is triggered by carbohydrate consumption, especially high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), fructose (fruit sugar), sugar (sucrose) and high glycemic foods like grains, breads and cereals, especially the refined ones and fruit juices, regular sodas, candy etc.
Fats are not the problem, they are biochemically neutral. See the article below, What If It's All A Big Fat Lie.
Protein triggers Glucagon, which triggers the burning of stored sugar or glycogen and fat loss from adipose tissue in the form of triglycerides.
One of the lectures below reminds us that we have an obesity epidemic in 6 month old babies today. Babies expend about the same energy as they always have. What has changed? Most mothers don't breast feed anymore and have switched to canned formulas. What's in these formulas...
Let's look at Similac Isomil...
First Ingredient: 43.2% Corn syrup solids, 4th ingredient: 10.3% Sugar (sucrose) That's over 50% sugar - No wonder infants 6 months old are often over weight.
Look at the evidence represented in the information below and try my program.
Have a great week and remember...
It's never too late to become younger.

Why we become fat...
A 1 hour medical lecture showing once again, energy in and energy out is an old paradigm that science has proven wrong. See what the truth is.

The Bitter Truth About Sugar...
Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. Series: UCSF Mini Medical School for the Public [7/2009] [Health and Medicine]

What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?
If the members of the American medical establishment were to have a collective find-yourself-standing-naked-in-Times-Square-type nightmare, this might be it. They spend 30 years ridiculing Robert Atkins, author of the phenomenally-best-selling ''Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution'' and ''Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution,'' accusing the Manhattan doctor of quackery and fraud, only to discover that the unrepentant Atkins was right all along. Or maybe it's this: they find that their very own dietary recommendations -- eat less fat and more carbohydrates -- are the cause of the rampaging epidemic of obesity in America. Or, just possibly this: they find out both of the above are true.

The case for low-carbohydrate diets is gaining weight. Christopher Gardner, PhD, assistant professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center, has completed the largest and longest-ever comparison of four popular diets using real-world conditions, which he discusses - the lowest-carbohydrate Atkins diet came out on top.

My most important blogs for 2009... Perhaps you missed some of these...

I reviewed my HealthBlogger publishings for 2009 and found the ones I felt were the most important for you to see.

I hope you benefit from at least a few of these, and it's not a bad idea to review them either, even if you read them once before.
I go back and review them often myself to remind me of what I already know, but perhaps didn't put into practice the way I should have.

Enjoy and remember...

You are never too old to become younger.

In a new study, researchers at the UCSD School of Medicine and Moores Cancer Center used a complex computer prediction model to determine that intake of vitamin D3 and calcium would prevent 58,000 new cases of breast cancer and 49,000 new cases of colorectal cancer annually in the US and Canada. The researchers model also predicted that 75% of deaths from these cancers could be prevented with adequate intake of vitamin D3 and calcium.
