2 discoveries that can dramatically effect your health...

My primary goal for today's HealthBlogger is to discuss 2 major health concerns and teach you how to deal with them naturally and effectively.

The first thing I must clear up is that calcium, which is the most taken supplement in America, is not effective for treating osteoporosis and is best not supplemented. In today's HealthBlogger, I share a few medical experts who agree with me that we get plenty of calcium in our diets for the most part and that calcium excess is what ends up killing us in the form of hardening of the arteries, calcified corneas, lungs, kidneys, etc. Examples of calcium excess are described in David Wolfe's video section, so be sure to watch that. I have most of the whole lecture, so if you want more, e-mail me and I will send the whole set of videos.
Osteoporosis is caused by mineral and trace mineral deficiencies, mainly magnesium, silica, boron, zinc, manganese, copper, and strontium, as well as vitamins B-12, K-2, folic acid, and especially vitamin D3.
Also involved are hormone imbalances that comes with age. Powerful phytonutrients like resveratrol and omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to turn off bad genes and turn on good genes that improve bone mass over time. All of the above can be addressed taking Cardio-Lift, Mega EFA, DHEA, and a trace mineral product with fulvic acid like CellEnergy. If you don't want to fuss a lot with a total program, but after looking at this blog and discussing it with your doctor, you might just want to consider replacing your calcium supplement for a magnesium-silica product instead and make sure your blood levels of vitamin d, 25-hydroxy, are in the 50 to 80 range. The evidence is it will be much more effective.
The life extension program I use and recommend most, deals very well with these mineral and hormonal issues, and as many of you have noticed, calcium is not high on my list. While I recommend you discuss this with your doctor, most are not very knowledgeable on this subject as they most often recommend calcium to their patients who have this disease. Research has come a long way and they are now starting to also up D3 levels, but it is rare for them to recommend much else except hormone replacement or drugs like Fossmax, which is addressed below by Dr. Mercola.

The next thing that came out a year ago, and which I published on my Blog, is that Rye can turn off the bad genes and turn on the good genes that stop inflammation and blood sugar issues like type 2 diabetes. Here was the study...
"Researchers from Finland took two groups of people with metabolic syndrome and gave each group a different diet. The diet differed in what type of carbohydrates they consumed for the 12 week study. The rest of their diet was identical. They contained the same calories and the same amount of fat, protein, carbohydrate, and fiber. The first group had wheat, oats, and potatoes as the source of their carbs. The second group ate rye as their source of carbohydrate. Rye has some very special properties. It is slowly absorbed by the body and has phytonutrients that help you lose weight and improve metabolism. After the 12 weeks, the researchers took a fat sample and analyzed it to find out which genes were turned on or off. So what happened? In the wheat, oat, and potato group, 62 genes were activated that increased inflammation, oxidative stress and the stress response, worsened blood sugar balance, and generally amplified all of the forces in the body that lead to obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease! No good genes were turned on. In the rye group, 71 genes were turned on that prevent diabetes, lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation, and improve blood sugar control. In both cases, the genes that were turned on and off were 100% effective."

As Dr. Hyman suggests on his video on 5 Ways to Reverse Diabetes and Insulin resistance below, this should have been front page news.

IT WAS... ON HEALTHBLOGGER AND IF YOU READ IT, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN A YEAR AHEAD IN CHANGING YOUR DIET and IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH. Just replace wheat bread with whole rye products like the ones I recommend on my Forever Changes Weight-Loss and Longevity Lifestyle Program page.

Enjoy and be informed with this week's studies and articles...

Remember, you are never too old to become younger.

Natural Osteoporosis Prevention & Treatment...
Video by Dr. Mercola
This video explains why calcium is not the answer for treating Osteoporosis nor is the most popular drug. Vitamin D3 and K2 as well as a diet high in vegetables is discussed.

The Calcium Lie - What Your Doctor Doesn't Know Could Kill...
If you believe that bones are made of calcium, you have subscribed to The Calcium Lie. You're not alone. Most consumers and, surprisingly, most doctors, believe that bones are made of calcium. Yet any basic biochemistry textbook will tell you the truth: Bones are made of at least a dozen minerals and we need all of them in perfect proportions in order to have healthy bones and healthy bodies.

5 steps to reverse diabetes and insulin resistance...
Does diabetes mean drugs? Not necessarily! In this week's UltraWellness blog, Dr. Mark Hyman brings you the last installment of his two-part discussion on diabetes. You'll learn why medications aren't always the answer -- and how you can prevent and even reverse diabetes with his comprehensive plan.

High-Fructose Corn Syrup and Diabetes: What the Experts Say...
(NaturalNews) According to the Corn Refiners Association, high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is no worse for you than any other dietary carbohydrate. Many health experts, however, disagree, warning consumers that HFCS is strongly correlated with diabetes and obesity.

Fulvic Acid: Nature's Solution for Your Mineral Needs...
(NaturalNews) According to U.S. Senate Study Document Number 264, due to agricultural topsoil depletion, 99 percent of Americans are deficient in minerals and trace elements due to food crop topsoil depletion. No big surprise maybe, except this study was reported in 1936! Since then, there have been USA and UK studies that have shown disturbing decreases in the mineral contents of foods from the soil over the past 50 years. An excerpt from that 1936 report to the U.S. Senate states: "Disorder and disease result from any vitamin deficiency. It is not commonly realized, however, that vitamins control the body's appropriation of minerals, and that in the absence of minerals they have no function to perform. Lacking vitamins, the system can make some use of minerals, but lacking minerals, the vitamins are useless".

A stronger backbone: DHEA hormone replacement increases bone density in older women...
Taking a DHEA supplement combined with vitamin D and calcium can significantly improve spinal bone density in older women, according to a new study from a Saint Louis University scientist and his colleagues at Washington University.
"The results of our study are very promising. Similar studies have demonstrated much smaller benefits for bone than we found. However, calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, which are present in half of older adults, may have prevented DHEA from improving bone density in the earlier studies," said Edward Weiss, Ph.D., associate professor of nutrition and dietetics at Saint Louis University's Doisy College of Health Sciences and lead author of the study.

Research Reveals Which Conventional Produce Can be Safely Eaten...
(NaturalNews) The evidence is in. Eating a plant based diet is the key to health and longevity. The only question left is how to get the best value for each dollar you have to spend on fruits and vegetables. The Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization devoted to human and environmental health, has come up with some guidelines that may help you decide. In a recently published listing, they pointed out those fruits and vegetables with the highest levels of pesticides that should be avoided unless they are available from known local growers, grown at home, or labeled as organic. They also identified which conventionally grown fruits and vegetables have low levels of pesticides and can be bought without too much compromise.

Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett the Latest Celebrity Victims of Big Pharma...
(NaturalNews) That Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both died in the last 48 hours is shocking news to many, but it's not nearly as surprising as the fact that they were both killed by Big Pharma's toxic drugs. Michael Jackson, we now know, died from an injection of Demerol given by his doctor -- a man who is now the subject of an LAPD manhunt. There is little question that the injection of Demerol -- a potent pharmaceutical -- caused Jackson's death. Chalk it up to yet another tragic loss of a hugely inspiring artist who has become a victim of the pharmaceutical industry and overzealous medical doctors.

Prescription for Disaster—Gary Null... Video - Click arrow button to start video, when page comes up.
This video is about 3 years old. Unfortunately nothing has changed and things perhaps have gotten worse. Do you know that atypical neuroleptics have killed many many more people than Vioxx ever did? He starts this video talking about Vioxx.
We need to ask why the most vulnerable people in society are so disrespected that they are considered expendable and the common risk of death with their “treatment” is considered worth it. This in spite of there being truly viable alternatives.
Why does no one want to hear about the alternatives?

Big Pharma and the FDA: Suppress the Science, Ban the Natural Substances, Sell the Drugs! ...
In 2005, an up-and-coming pharmaceutical company made a big mistake: they invested millions of dollars into developing a drug only to discover that the only active ingredient of the drug, pyridoxamine, was really a common, naturally occurring substance that has been sold for decades at low cost to consumers in the form of a dietary supplement, and has always been available in commonly consumed foods such as chicken and brewer’s yeast.

Ritalin ADHD Drug Linked to 500 Percent Increased Risk of Sudden Death in Children...
NaturalNews) Just how dangerous are the amphetamine stimulant drugs prescribed for children with so-called ADHD? According to scientific research funded by the FDA and the National Institute of Mental Health, drugs such as Ritalin increase the risk of sudden death by five hundred percent among children and teens.

High levels of vitamin D might help keep the brain healthy as people age, new research suggests...
The study authors found that high circulating vitamin D levels were associated with high scores on memory and information-processing tests, while low vitamin D levels were associated with poor scores. The findings appear online in advance of publication in the print issue of the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.
