Question 1 from M. B. - Oakland, CA...
It would be great to know what could help someone suffer less from the chemo and radiation that they are most likely to receive with stage 3 cancer...? What could boost their bodies internal cancer fighter...? And any special supplements, little known anythings specific to ovarian issues...? What's the research that you've gathered say..?
Answer... This is a complicated question and must be discussed with their doctor. I have listed below many important factors for improving one's chances with cancer and prevention before and after treatment. Please read and watch what I have listed below. Basically I like anything natural that functions as an anti-oxidant that also is anti-inflammatory in nature. Astaxanthin, Omega 3's - see Antioxidants May Aid Chemotherapy Patients.
As for ovarian issues, one thing I especially like is an enzyme called Serrapeptase. Some doctors use it in Europe to dissolve and remove fibroid tissue in the breasts, ovaries. or anywhere else adhesions, scar tissue, or fibroid material may exist. Question 2 from B. A. - Prineville, OR...
Ok, I have a question… my youngest son has some pretty big behavioral issues. I have heard that it could be a lack of Acidophilus. Is this true and if so what would be the best form. They recommended the refrigerated form of it.Answer... Acidophilus is a probiotic. While I think they are very important for colon health, regularity, and immunity, it would not be the best approach for behavioral issues. I like Omega 3's, especially the DHA portion found in them and and I would use a herbal formula especially formulated for calming children down called Calm Child. Also look out for coloring agents in his foods and drinks and of course, sugar and high fructose syrup. Also, allergies to foods and drinks can cause anger issues in children. Look for anything he likes to eat or drink everyday and has a fit when he doesn't get it. Then remove it from his diet for 2 weeks and see how he responds.

Question 3 from D. B. - Prineville, OR...
My ? has to do with detoxing nicotine from the body - are there vitamins that will help this?
I'm gonna try to stop smoking (again) and know that I have a really hard time the first 3-5 days due to the nicotine being in my system. I actually do pretty good mentally but the withdrawals are what get me smoking again.
Answer... There are a lot of ways to remove toxins from the body, but the most specific for your issue, and one that can work quickly, is Homeopathic in nature and is taken under the tongue. It's called Drugtox. You can find it at MBI. Search for Drugtox in the search engine or under the category Alternative Supplements, then detoxifiers.

Study Finds Sunny Side of Eggs...
When it comes to public consumption of nutrition studies, an old adage applies: Everything in moderation. The latest study looking at what you should eat involves eggs. Despite decades of advice that the cholesterol in eggs is bad for you, researchers in Canada now report evidence that eggs might reduce another heart disease risk factor — high blood pressure.
The scientists found egg proteins that, in laboratory simulations of the human digestive process, seem to act like a popular group of prescription medications in lowering blood pressure. The findings are detailed in the Feb. 11 issue of the American Chemical Society's Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
Scientists Discover Why A Low GI Meal Makes You Feel Full... Eating a meal with a low GI (glycaemic index) increases gut hormone production which leads to suppression of appetite and the feeling of fullness. This is the finding of new research being presented at the annual Society for Endocrinology BES meeting in Harrogate.
Researchers from King’s College London studied the effects of a low versus high GI meal on levels of gut hormones. This is the first study to provide clues as to how a low GI meal produces satiety.
GI is a ranking assigned to carbohydrates according to their effect on the body’s blood sugar levels. A low GI meal takes longer to digest and releases sugar into the bloodstream more slowly than a high GI meal. High GI foods include white bread, croissants and cornflakes, whereas granary bread, milk and most fruit and vegetables are all classed as low GI foods. Glycemic Index
Drug for Heart Disease Causes Heart Attack and Stroke ... (NaturalNews) According to a study published in the March 18 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), a drug that had looked promising in preventing atherosclerosis (the process in which plaque builds up in the inner lining of the arteries leading to cardiovascular events) in animal tests just doesn`t work in humans. What`s more, the medication appears to be downright dangerous. Instead of preventing cardiac problems, it increases the incidence of heart attacks and strokes.
The drug was tested in 892 people with a family history of high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia), which is associated with a higher risk for atherosclerosis.
Lipoic Acid Found to Reduce Triglycerides by 60 Percent in Lab Rats... Following only days after a study in the Archives of Internal Medicine finds high concentrations of triglyceride blood fats are common in the U.S., a new study finds that supplementing the diets of lab rats with lipoic acid significantly lowered their triglycerides. Researchers suggest it may be an easy way to lower this risk of cardiovascular disease.
Triglycerides, along with cholesterol levels and blood pressure, are one of the key risk factors in cardiovascular disease. In the lab animals, supplements of lipoic acid lowered triglyceride levels up to 60 percent. If the effect were the same in humans – which is not yet clear – that would be a greater impact than found with other dietary supplements, and similar to the effects of some prescription drugs. IP6 is Highly Effective Alternative Treatment for Cancer ... (NaturalNews) Anyone looking for effective alternatives to the treatments offered by traditional cancer specialists might want to look at inositol hexophosphate (IP6). It is a very simple and inexpensive treatment that may easily get written off by people, who have been led to believe the cure for cancer can only be found in a laboratory through the complexities of science and only after years of expensive research and testing. Yet it is becoming obvious that one of the most effective cures for cancer already exists in a simple compound found in abundance in many foods. New research continues to underscore the effectiveness of IP6 against cancer.
Nutritional Cancer Therapy of Max Gerson, M.D.... It has been said that more people live off cancer than die from it. The Gerson Therapy is a book that can put a stop to this travesty. Here is a very practical, highly detailed guide to the intensive nutritional treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases that many would consider to have been impossible to obtain. But thanks to the work of Max Gerson, M.D., and his daughter, author Charlotte Gerson, this knowledge is readily available for all who need it.
Max Gerson cured cancer. He did so with a strict fat-free, salt-free, low-protein, essentially vegetarian dietary regimen, based on great quantities of fresh vegetable juice, supplements, and systemic detoxification. Ms. Gerson explains:
“Dr. Gerson found that the underlying problems of all cancer patients are toxicity and deficiency. He had to overcome both these difficulties. He found that one of the important features of his therapy had to be the hourly administration of fresh vegetable juices. These supply ample nutrients, as well as fluids to help flush out the kidneys. When the high levels of nutrients re-enter tissues, toxins accumulated over many years are forced into the blood stream. The toxins are then filtered out by the liver. The liver is easily overburdened by the continuous release of toxins and is unable to release the load.” Dr. Gerson found that he could provide help to the liver by the caffeine in coffee, absorbed from the colon via the hemorrhoidal vein, which carries the caffeine to the portal system and then to the liver. The caffeine stimulates the liver/bile ducts to open, releasing the poisons into the intestinal tract for excretion.”
Healing your body with The Gerson Therapy... Throughout our lives our bodies are being filled with a variety of disease and cancer causing pollutants. These toxins reach us through the air we breathe, the food we eat, the medicines we take and the water we drink. As more of these poisons are used every day and cancer rates continue to climb, being able to turn to a proven, natural, detoxifying treatment like the Gerson Therapy is not only reassuring, but necessary.
The Movie You Have To See This Year... Video Trailor - A MUST SEE With a constituency limited to anyone who eats, "Food, Inc." is a civilized horror movie for the socially conscious, the nutritionally curious and the hungry. Yes, it has a deceptively cheery palette, but helmer Robert Kenner's doc -- which does for the supermarket what "Jaws" did for the beach -- marches straight into the dark side of cutthroat agri-business, corporatized meat and the greedy manipulation of both genetics and the law. Doc biz may be in the doldrums, but "Food, Inc." is so aesthetically polished and politically urgent, theatrical play seems a no-brainer, though it won't do much for popcorn sales.
Another Anti-cancer Effect Of The 'Longevity' Protein SIRT1 Identified... Yuan et al. have identified another anti-cancer effect of the "longevity" protein SIRT1. By speeding the destruction of the tumor promoter c-Myc, SIRT1 curbs cell division. he yeast and nematode equivalents of SIRT1 are fountains of youth that stretch lifespan. Whether SIRT1 slows aging in mammals isn't certain, but it's beneficial in other ways. The protein tunes up metabolism, reducing blood levels of glucose and insulin, and might forestall neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease and ALS. Given its pro-life credentials, you might expect SIRT1 to inhibit cancer. And several studies suggest that it does. But other work indicates that the protein aids tumors. For example, SIRT1 chops off acetyl groups, which can inactivate the tumor suppressor p53. Video on Resveratrol and Cancer

Med diet, vegetables and nuts come out top for heart health... The Mediterranean diet, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins C, E and folate, is the only dietary pattern associated with a lower risk for heart disease, says a new review.
According to findings published in this week’s Archives of Internal Medicine, modest relationships were found supporting omega-3 fatty acids, folate, whole grains, alcohol, fruits, fibre and dietary vitamins E and C and beta carotene, for reductions in the risk of heart disease. On the other hand, trans-fatty acids and foods with a high glycemic index (GI) were associated with detrimental effects on heart health, wrote the researchers, led by Andrew Mente, from the Population Health Research Institute.
Omega-3 Kills Cancer Cells... Docosahexanoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oils, has been shown to reduce the size of tumours and enhance the positive effects of the chemotherapy drug cisplatin, while limiting its harmful side effects. The rat experiments provide some support for the plethora of health benefits often ascribed to omega-3 acids. Professor A. M. El-Mowafy led a team of researchers from Mansoura University, Egypt, who studied DHA's effects on solid tumours growing in mice, as well as investigating how this fatty acid interacts with cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug that is known to cause kidney damage. El-Mowafy said, "DHA elicited prominent chemopreventive effects on its own, and appreciably augmented those of cisplatin as well. Furthermore, this study is the first to reveal that DHA can obliterate lethal cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and renal tissue injury." Omega 3 EFA's
Low Glycemic Breakfast May Increase Benefits Of Working Out... The benefits of physical activity and a balanced diet are well documented and form the basis of many public health recommendations. This is because each of these factors can independently influence risks for many chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and some forms of cancer. Some research also suggests that exercise and diet interact to influence health. For instance, exercising after short-term fasting (such as before breakfast) may increase the amount of fat burned. Similarly, consumption of a meal eliciting a low blood glucose response prior to exercise may also boost the use of body fat (instead of glucose). However, most of these studies have used either trained athletes or recreational exercisers, and none has looked at effects of the type of pre-exercise meal on metabolism during and after exercise.
