THURSDAY, Jan. 11 (HealthDay News) -- Recognizing that overeating isn't limited to beings with two legs, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first prescription drug to manage obesity in dogs.

Experts call for vitamin D level hike...
1/12/2007 - The tolerable upper intake level for oral vitamin D3 should be increased five-fold, experts from the US-based Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) has said after a review of the science.

Sunshine, Vitamin D May Prevent Influenza...
Vitamin D, or rather a lack of it, may have something to do with the regular flaring up of influenza in the winter months. A team of Harvard based researchers is "focusing on a provocative new hypothesis that blames annual flu epidemics on something most people don't get enough of this time of year: sunshine", reports the Baltimore Sun.

Comment: I am especially upset about the FDA approving a diet drug for obese dogs. It's one thing as humans to decide that you want to eat junk food or foods that create weight problems for us, but animals have no choice in the matter. You determine what they eat.
Please understand what dogs and cats should eat, so they do not become obese and need drugs. Shame on us...
