New study confirms, low omega 3's and high insulin levels cause obesity, not fats in general... Eat more fat, lose weight...

More fat linked to less weight in kids study...

By staff reporter
29/01/2007- Higher intake of fats is associated with lower body weight, says new research from Sweden that offers an alternative side to the role of fat intake in the rise of obesity. The research also correlated higher BMI with higher sugar intake.
Researcher Malin Haglund Garemo, a dietitian from Gothenburg University in Sweden, said that more studies are planned to investigate if obesity was being caused by an early increase in insulin, and not fat.
"Such results would go against the common perception that fat causes increased insulin production as a result of insulin resistance," she said.
The rate of childhood obesity is set to double by the end of the decade, according to recent forecasts by the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF). The alarming figures on childhood obesity estimate that by 2010 almost 287 million kids will be obese, and the overall obese population could rise to 700 million by 2015.
Garemos dissertation study focused on 182 healthy four-year-olds in Gothenburg and examined eating habits and lifestyles. Twenty per cent of the children were classified as being overweight based on their body mass index (BMI greater than 25 kg per sq. m and less than 30 kg sq. m), and two per cent were obese (BMI greater than 3030 kg sq. m).
"Most of the children in our study come from good socioeconomic backgrounds. If the study had reflected all four-year-olds in Sweden, more children would probably have been overweight," said Haglund Garemo.
Diets, socio-economic, lifestyle and health questionnaires were completed by the parents of the children, and analysis of the children's body build showed that weight increases was a result of the body storing more fat, but those who ate the most fat were not the ones who weighed most. Instead, children who ate less fat had higher BMIs, reports Haglund Garemo.
Startlingly, a fourth of all energy requirements of the children was coming from "junk food" (candy, ice cream, cookies, and sweet beverages), despite the overall energy intakes being in accordance with Nordic nutrition recommendations (NNR 2004).
"Most children had higher intake of saturated fat and sucrose than NNR 2004, while the intake of polyunsaturated fat - especially omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D and iron were lower than recommended in most children," wrote Haglund Garemo.
"Every third child in the study ate far too little unsaturated fat, above all too little omega-3. These children had significantly higher body weight. This supports other studies that show that obese children have shortages of omega-3," she said.
Haglund Garemo also reported that many of the four-year old girls in the study were already displaying signs of the metabolic syndrome, a condition characterised by central obesity, hypertension, and disturbed glucose and insulin metabolism. The syndrome has been linked to increased risks of both type 2 diabetes and CVD.
Indeed, the research indicated that children with the highest insulin levels gained the most weight since birth.
"Risk factors for the metabolic syndrome can be identified already in healthy 4-year olds, especially in girls," she said.

How Much Mental Illness is an Allergy to Caffeine?...
With the upswing of "chemical imbalance" disorders that surfaced in the latter twentieth century, many researchers frantically attempt to unravel the brain's intricate clockworks. In turn, as the number of persons suffering with mental issues mount, it seems that doctors, pressed for time, are quick to refer patients to psychiatrists. Failing to request a medical physical, many psychiatrists hand out medications, often masking the underlying physical problem.

Broccoli-tomato combo reduces prostate tumors...

A report published the January 15, 2007 issue of the journal Cancer Research concluded that a diet enhanced with tomato and broccoli powder was better than one containing either nutrient alone at shrinking prostate tumors in rats.
Food science and human nutrition professor John Erdman and colleagues at the University of Illinois and Ohio State University conducted the current research on rats with implanted prostate cancer tumors. The animals were divided to receive diets containing 10 percent broccoli powder, 10 percent tomato powder, or both. Other rats received lycopene (the red pigment in tomatoes and other red fruits) or finasteride (a drug used to treat prostate enlargement), or were surgically castrated.
After 22 weeks of treatment, rats who received the combination of broccoli and tomato powder experienced greater shrinkage of their tumors as determined by tumor weight than animals in any other group. Biopsies confirmed the reduction in proliferation in this group compared to the others, with the exception of the castrated rats whose tumor shrinkage approached that of the broccoli-tomato group.
"As nutritionists, it was very exciting to compare this drastic surgery to diet and see that tumor reduction was similar,” stated research team member and report coauthor Kirstie Canene-Adams. “Older men with slow-growing prostate cancer who have chosen watchful waiting over chemotherapy and radiation should seriously consider altering their diets to include more tomatoes and broccoli."
"When tomatoes and broccoli are eaten together, we see an additive effect, Dr Erdman explained. “We think it's because different bioactive compounds in each food work on different anticancer pathways."
"To get these effects, men should consume daily 1.4 cups of raw broccoli and 2.5 cups of fresh tomato, or 1 cup of tomato sauce, or ½ cup of tomato paste,” Canene-Adams suggested.
Other research conducted at the University of Illinois by Dr Erdman’s colleague Elizabeth Jeffrey discovered that sulfur compounds in broccoli enhance enzymes in the body that degrade cancer-causing substances. "For ten years, I've been learning how the phytochemicals in tomatoes affect the progression of prostate cancer,” Dr Erdman stated. “Meanwhile Dr Jeffery has been investigating the ways in which the healthful effects of broccoli are produced. Teaming up to see how these vegetables worked together just made sense and certainly contributes to our knowledge about dietary treatments for prostate cancer."

Less sugary drinks during childhood may cut disease risk...
Symptoms of heart disease and diabetes usually seen in adults are increasingly being found in adolescents according to a longitudinal study, which suggests that reducing the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages during childhood may lessen the risk of chronic disease in later life.
"Research on obesity and associated problems such as hypertension and type-2 diabetes has largely dealt with adults," says Alison Ventura, doctoral candidate at Penn State's Center for Childhood Obesity Research. "But with increasing rates of obesity in children, we are seeing these problems at much younger ages."

Improve your thoughts, improve your life. Change your thoughts, change your life... You are in charge of your future...

Over the past 30 years, I have come to learn about Quantum Physics and how these principals affect our personal life, and our future, when we understand them.

Quantum Physics is the new understanding of what really makes up our world around us. Einstein taught us that E=MC2... In other words, energy is the same as matter and light. Everything in the universe is made up of energy, it's all one big energy field. Below the molecular level of all things, is energy vibrating at different frequencies. Even our thoughts, it appears, are made up of energy and have specific vibrations that are either positive or negative. Thoughts, which are images in our mind, eventually becomes our physical reality. Our imagination is our way of practicing creation. Einstein put it this way, " Imagination is everything, it is the preview of coming attractions." Buddha understood this principal and said "We are what we think. All that we are, arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world." How then do we make 2007 better than 2006? We begin to think different thoughts, and these thoughts and emotions will attract what we want in our life. We get what we think about most. "Our destiny changes with our thought; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do,when our habitual thought corresponds with our desire." Orison S. Marder ...

The secret to having a better future lies in the Law of Attraction... Here are some thoughts to ponder to make 2007, better.
  1. Images in our mind, determine our future
  2. Imagination, is Image Making - the process of creation
  3. Thoughts have a magnetic frequency
  4. Thoughts become things
  5. We are always in creation mode, whether we know it or not
  6. What we focus on with thought and emotion, becomes our reality
  7. If your feeling good, you give off good vibrations
  8. Circumstances are just your current situation, the result of old thoughts

Dr. Wayne Dyer states in his book, The Power of Intention, that " If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change." Quantum Physics has proved this to be a scientific fact. " You cannot solve a problem by condemning it". Instead, " You must contemplate yourself surrounded by the conditions you want to produce".

Here are some video clips from the new movie called The Secret, to help you understand these ideas and to start putting them in motion this year.
