Modern medicine wants to manage your disease. My focus has been to educate you to take charge of your own health and create and manage ideal health.
The other day I saw an ad on TV that really made me angry. It was designed to scare you into putting your children on a drug to improve a poor immune response. They love to give diseases initials and this is also the case here. They call it (PI) or Primary Immunodeficiency.
The ad showed a mother arguing with her doctor as to why her child was so sick all the time. The doctor said it was normal for kids to be sick so often, and she disagreed. I disagree as well, as a healthy child has a lot of resistance to colds and flus, but only when they have enough vitamins D and C, which are needed in larger amounts than most people get.
The ad was designed to make the Mom feel that perhaps she knew more than the doctor, which was exactly what the drug company wanted her to believe. Today, drug companies advertise to you and I directly and want us to request the drugs we think we need. If you don't believe me, watch their ads more carefully from now on and you will see I am right.
My belief is that disease, which originally stood for IMBALANCE, is just that. Not a deficiency in drugs, but in natural chemicals our bodies where meant to get from our food, water, and sunlight.
Try your own experiments, especially you Moms... Try using alternatives to drugs for 6 months, like the ones I highlight below and see how little sickness your family has next winter.
D3 - 4,000 IU's capsules
D3 - Drops for kids
C - Advan C - a non-acidic form that is gentle to the digestive system - 1,000 mgs
C - Ascorbic Acid Liquid - 1,000 mgs
I have listed studies this week which support my beliefs. You can ask the people who know me or those that have listened and followed my advice. I really cannot remember the last time I had a cold or the flu.
Enjoy this weeks articles and TAKE ACTION to improve your health today.
It's never too late to become younger.

New Survey: Do Cardiologists Recommend Dietary Supplements to Patients?...
The "Life ... supplemented" Healthcare Professionals (HCP) recently released the results of their "Impact Study," which showed the extent to which cardiologists recommend dietary supplements to patients and which supplements are recommended the most.
The survey showed that 72 percent of U.S. cardiologists go beyond suggestions about diet and exercise to recommend certain dietary supplements to their patients and more than half of these doctors (57 percent) take supplements themselves. Fifty-four percent of cardiologists believe dietary supplements can play an important role in improving or maintaining the health of their patients.
Children with Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) Disease...
The more you know about PI, the more you can help your child face the challenges of living with a chronic disease. Bringing family members, friends, and teachers into the loop will encourage the kind of understanding and special consideration you and your child need.
Vitamin D Deficiency In Infants And Nursing Mothers Carries Long-term Disease Risks...
Once believed to be important only for bone health, vitamin D is now seen as having a critical function in maintaining the immune system throughout life. The newly recognized disease risks associated with vitamin D deficiency are clearly documented in a new report.
Video - Vitamin D and it's effects on your health and Immune System...
Some scientists and doctors will tell you that you inherit genes that create your disease and you have no control over it. If you listen to other scientists, they will inform you that new research indicates that "good" and "bad" genes can be turned on or off, by correcting certain vitamins. This is called Gene Expression or Gene Regulation.
Vitamins got there name because science found they were "vital" for good health.
Vitamin D, A Gene-Regulating Super Nutrient...
(NaturalNews) Vitamin D has long been known to assist healthy bones by helping to stimulate bone cells to make new bone while enhancing the uptake of calcium into bones. Its role in boosting immunity, hormone regulation, brain health, metabolism, diabetes prevention, cancer prevention, and cardiovascular health are just now becoming clear. The sunshine vitamin appears poised to claim its crown. All your body organs and cells have receptors for vitamin D, meaning that vitamin D communicates all around your body. Your cells use vitamin D to directly regulate your genes, making it one of the most powerful compounds in human health. In fact, one study with 2100 female twins showed that having adequate vitamin D extends life by five years. This is because vitamin D prevents excessive wear and tear to the telomers that are attached to the ends of your chromosomes that enable cell division (determining potential cell lifespan). This is truly a new era of nutritional science.
Use of vitamin D in clinical practice...
The recent discovery--from a meta-analysis of 18 randomized controlled trials--that supplemental cholecalciferol (vitamin D) significantly reduces all-cause mortality emphasizes the medical, ethical, and legal implications of promptly diagnosing and adequately treating vitamin D deficiency. Not only are such deficiencies common, and probably the rule, vitamin D deficiency is implicated in most of the diseases of civilization. Vitamin D's final metabolic product is a potent, pleiotropic, repair and maintenance, seco-steroid hormone that targets more than 200 human genes in a wide variety of tissues, meaning it has as many mechanisms of action as genes it targets. One of the most important genes vitamin D up-regulates is for cathelicidin, a naturally occurring broad-spectrum antibiotic.
Vitamin D Found To Stimulate A Protein That Inhibits The Growth Of Breast Cancer Cells...
Calcitrol, the active form of vitamin D, has been found to induce a tumor suppressing protein that can inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells, according to a study by researcher Sylvia Chistakos, Ph.D., of the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
Low vitamin D may make you heavier...
Low levels of Vitamin D in the body may be responsible for weight gain in women. Vitamin D insufficiency has been linked to low bone mineral density, increased risk of fracture, and obesity in adults. However, this relationship has not been well characterised in young adults. To examine the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, body fat, and bone structure at the time of peak bone mass, researchers from California identified 90 young women, aged 16 to 22 years old, living in sunny southern California. The researchers monitored the vitamin D levels in the participants’ body along with their body mass index. Overall, 37 of the 90 women in the study had sufficient concentrations of the vitamin D metabolite 25-hydroxyvitamin D (30 nanograms per milliliter or above). The remaining 53 women had lesser vitamin D metabolite levels suggestive of vitamin D insufficiency. It was found that those with insufficient levels of vitamin D were significantly heavier and had greater body mass than their counterparts with sufficient levels of vitamin D, suggesting that obesity is related to vitamin D insufficiency.
Vitamin D Deficiency May Increase Risk Of Colds, Flu...
Vitamin D may be an important way to arm the immune system against disorders like the common cold, report investigators from the University of Colorado Denver (UC Denver) School of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Children's Hospital Boston. In the largest and most nationally representative study of the association between vitamin D and respiratory infections, people with the lowest blood vitamin D levels reported having significantly more recent colds or cases of the flu. The risks were even higher for those with chronic respiratory disorders, such as asthma and emphysema. The report appears in the February 23 Archives of Internal Medicine.
Vitamin D Helps Ward Off Age-Related Mental Decline ...
(NaturalNews) A study to be published in the Journal of Geriatric Psychology and Neurology has revealed that vitamin D could help ward off the decline in mental function which usually accompanies old age. Its findings add on to other recent studies which had also suggested vitamin D has protective effects in this area. Study after study has revealed to us the amazing protective and beneficial effects of vitamin D on various aspects of health. In some ways, it almost sounds too good to be true. But once we understand that vitamin D functions not so much as a vitamin, per se, but more as a hormone which regulates a multitude of processes in the human body, this then becomes far less surprising.
Inadequate Vitamin D Levels Linked To High Use Of Narcotic Medication By Patients In Chronic Pain...
Mayo Clinic research shows a correlation between inadequate vitamin D levels and the amount of narcotic medication taken by patients who have chronic pain. This correlation is an important finding as researchers discover new ways to treat chronic pain.
Vitamin D Deficiency Linked to Increased C-Section Rate ...
(NaturalNews) A study indicates women who are short on vitamin D are more likely to have a cesarean section delivery. The findings can be attributed to the work of a larger study which looked at the vitamin D levels in women within 72 hours of delivery. None of the women in the study had previous c-sections, and the rate of cesarean deliveries during the study was 17 percent. Researchers found 36 percent of women who had delivered babies to be vitamin D deficient, and 23 percent were found to be severely deficient. The findings indicate that a woman with low vitamin D levels is four times more likely to deliver by cesarean than a woman with higher levels.
Prostate Cancer Death Risk Linked to Vitamin D...
Elevated serum levels of vitamin D may be associated with a reduced risk of death from prostate cancer, researchers reported in the British Journal of Cancer (2009;100;450-454).In a study of 160 prostate cancer patients, those with medium and high serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (calcidiol) were at 67% and 84% decreased risk of death from prostate cancer, respectively, compared with patients who had a low level. Among the 97 men receiving hormone therapy, medium and high calcidiol levels were associated with 82% and 91% decreased risk. Medium and high calcidiol levels were defined as 50-80 and greater than 80 nmol/L, respectively.
Vitamin C: There May Be a Modern Chronic Deficiency ...
Vitamin C. Mmmm . . . maybe you think of a tall glass of Florida orange juice. Or maybe you grab it at the beginning of the cold season. But would you associate it with cardiovascular disease (CVD) or cancer? Maybe you should. According to an article published in October 2007, in the Journal of Nutrition, there is accumulating scientific evidence that very large (therapeutic) doses of vitamin C may be effective in treating both CVD and cancer. In addition, some scientists have hypothesized that the onset of these common degenerative diseases may actually be due to a vitamin C deficiency in the general population. Dr. Steven Hickey and Dr. Hilary Roberts with the Vitamin C Foundation and authors of the book 'Ascorbate: the Science of Vitamin C', have gone so far as to suggest that heart disease is actually a chronic form of the vitamin C deficiency disease called scurvy. If we ate the recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, we'd easily consume double the RDA for vitamin C and likely a lot more. According to Linus Pauling, a two time Nobel Prize winning chemist who is noted for his vitamin C research, our early human ancestors probably consumed 2,300 mg/day to 9,500 mg/day of vitamin C from their plant-based diet. This is 25 to 100 times more than today's RDA for an adult man.
