Eat, drink, be optimistic, exercise and health will follow...

Today my blog focuses on foods, activities, drinks, and attitudes that can have a very positive effect on your health and well being.

While I try to eat and drink the right things daily, I still believe supplementation is critical to longevity and altering the process of chronic disease. I drink a lot of green tea and 2 glasses of red wine daily, but I also take their phytonutrients in supplement form.

While Spirulina is a great food all by itself, containing almost every nutrient known to man, I add 2,000 mgs of Spirulina to many of my own vitamin formulations, which makes them superior to the competition at a comparative price. Check out WOMEN'S BASIC + and MEN'S BASIC + which cost about $28.00 a Month.

I have recommended oral chelation with EDTA for a long time as a way to keep your arteries clean and for the removal of heavy metals. Learn from an expert why you might want to consider taking it, if you have any concerns about heart disease.

Cinnamon has been clinically proven to improve blood sugar levels and can be very helpful for people with type 2 diabetes. That's why I include it as one of the nutrients in my formula called Blood Sugar Health and in my complete multi for blood sugar support called, GLUCO VIT-MIN.

Enjoy today's articles and studies and remember...

It's never too late to become younger.

Brussels Sprouts Defend against All Types of Cancer...
(NaturalNews) Plant phytonutrients found in Brussels sprouts boost the body`s natural defense systems to protect against cancer and other diseases. Brussels sprouts and other cruciferous vegetables disarm cancer causing chemicals and encourage the body`s detoxification enzymes.Evidence in the Netherlands suggests that Brussels sprouts keep the body free from cancer by promoting healthy DNA. DNA is responsible for cell division in the body. When DNA gets damaged, cells may begin to replicate much more rapidly than normal, which can cause a cancerous tumor to begin to form. Several studies reveal that Brussels sprouts have the ability to help protect DNA from damage.

Chemists Shed Light On Health Benefits Of Garlic...
ScienceDaily (Jan. 31, 2009) — A Queen's-led team has discovered the reason why garlic is so good for us. Researchers have widely believed that the organic compound, allicin – which gives garlic its aroma and flavour – acts as the world's most powerful antioxidant. But until now it hasn't been clear how allicin works, or how it stacks up compared to more common antioxidants such as Vitamin E and coenzyme Q10, which stop the damaging effects of radicals.

Women Double Fruit, Veggie Intake With Switch To Mediterranean Diet Plan...
ScienceDaily (Dec. 31, 2008) — In a new study led by the University of Michigan Health System, women more than doubled their fruit and vegetable intakes and dramatically increased their consumption of "good" fats when they were counseled by registered dietitians and provided with a list of guidelines on the amount of certain foods they should eat each day.

Fat linked to vitamin deficiency...
Teenage girls and young women who are overweight have a higher chance of being deficient in vitamin D, scientists have found in research that strengthens the case for wider use of supplements. The research shows that even in a sunshine-rich climate similar to Sydney's it is possible for young people to lack the essential vitamin, which the body usually produces from sun exposure. Using scans to measure the women's body fat - not just their weight - the scientists, from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, found a strong link between excessive body fat and low vitamin D levels.

Vigorous Exercise May Help Prevent Vision Loss...
ScienceDaily (Feb. 14, 2009) — There’s another reason to dust off those running shoes. Vigorous exercise may help prevent vision loss, according to a pair of studies from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The studies tracked approximately 41,000 runners for more than seven years, and found that running reduced the risk of both cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

EDTA Chelation - The Real "Miracle" Therapy for Vascular Disease...
EDTA chelation is a therapy by which repeated administrations of a weak synthetic amino acid (EDTA, ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid) gradually reduce atherosclerotic plaque and other mineral deposits throughout the cardiovascular system by literally dissolving them away.
EDTA chelation has frequently been compared to a "Roto-Rooter" in the cardiovascular system, because it removes plaque and returns the arterial system to a smooth, healthy, pre-atherosclerotic state. A better metaphor might be "Liquid-Plumr," because, where Roto-Rooter violently scrapes deposits off the interior surfaces of your plumbing with a rapidly rotating blade, Liquid-Plumr simply dissolves them away.
Roto-Rooter is a far better metaphor for conventional medical treatments for heart disease, all of which are closely tied to the concept of the cardiovascular system as plumbing. When a pipe/artery gets clogged, simply ream it out or flatten the deposits (angioplasty). If that doesn't work, just cut away the bad section(s) and replace it (them) with a new piece of pipe (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG). It's the same basic strategy older cities use for replacing their century-old water mains. And we know how successful that is!

Cinnamon Benefits Type 2 Diabetics...
The spice cinnamon improves blood glucose and reduces triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL, the bad cholesterol, in patients with type 2 diabetes according to a recent study in Diabetes Care. Included in the 40-day study were 60,type 2 diabetes patients, (30 men and 30 women) with an average age of52 years. The subjects were divided randomly into six groups. Group one consumed one gram of cinnamon daily, group two consumed 3 grams and group three consumed six grams. Groups four, five, and six were given placebo capsules corresponding to the number of capsules consumed inthe three cinnamon-treated groups. After 40 days, all three cinnamon dosages reduced the mean fasting serum glucose by 18-29 percent, triglycerides by 23-30 percent, LDL cholesterol by 7-27 percent, and total cholesterol by 12-26 percent. The placebo groups didnot experience any significant benefits, indicating it was the cinnamon that achieved the positive results.

Add Spirulina to Your Diet and Replace those Expensive Supplements...
(NaturalNews) Spirulina is considered one of nature's most perfect foods because it performs such a broad spectrum of activities in the body. Its nutritional profile shows it can replace many more expensive supplements, and its research profile reveals its dedication to promoting good health. Several animal studies have documented the ability of spirulina to arrest the development of cancer progression, reduce risk of cancer initiation, and boost the immune system. Spirulina has anti-viral and anti-allergic effects, and is a natural antihistamine. Recently, spirulina has been found effective at lowering the immune response when it has become overactive, a function that may make it effective against autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

Eat More Chocolate for Health ...
(NaturalNews) Chocolate has been a favorite food of people since it was first discovered. A joke among chocolate lovers is that it is an essential nutrient. But aside from a velvety texture and indescribable taste, is chocolate good for you? Research has shown that raw, dark cocoa is. Chocolate in assorted candies or bars has been processed. It has been fermented and sweetened with unhealthy sugars. It has preservatives and other added chemicals. It isn`t good for you at all, unlike raw, dark, healthy chocolate.

Drinking Coffee Reduces Risk of Stroke, Cancer and Dementia ...
(NaturalNews) It's a pleasant surprise when something questionable turns out to be full of health benefits. First chocolate was found to prevent heart disease. Then red wine was shown to increase overall longevity. Now the spotlight is on coffee. Newly released studies reveal that coffee drinking lowers risk of stroke, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia. It even improves social skills and depressive symptoms. Other recent research has shown that drinking coffee reduces the risk of diabetes.

Green, Black Tea Can Reduce Stroke Risk, Research Suggests...
ScienceDaily (Mar. 4, 2009) — Drinking at least three cups of green or black tea a day can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, a new UCLA study has found. And the more you drink, the better your odds of staving off a stroke.

Better cheer up: Optimism is key to longevity - Study: Happy folks live longer, healthier lives than gloomy counterparts...
Optimists live longer, healthier lives than pessimists, U.S. researchers said on Thursday in a study that may give pessimists one more reason to grumble.
Researchers at University of Pittsburgh looked at rates of death and chronic health conditions among participants of the Women’s Health Initiative study, which has followed more than 100,000 women ages 50 and over since 1994. Women who were optimistic — those who expect good rather than bad things to happen — were 14 percent less likely to die from any cause than pessimists and 30 percent less likely to die from heart disease after eight years of follow up in the study.

Eggs are the Answer, Not the Enemy...
(NaturalNews) For years we've been listening to top health experts advising us to eliminate eggs from our diet. At the very most, they say, eat only three eggs a week. Any more would simply wreak havoc on your cholesterol levels. And of course all of this is starkly animated in television commercials showing regular egg consumers collapsing of violent heart attacks in the street. Does that sound like cookie-cutter propaganda to you? There is some logic behind these claims: eggs contain cholesterol so they must surely raise cholesterol levels. This concept, however, is flawed and research is proving it to be so.

The Emperor's Guard: Green Tea Protects the Heart ...
(NaturalNews) Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) views the heart as the master of the body and the emperor of the organ networks. It generates chi, the vital energy of the body, and thus is the root of all life1. Without a healthy heart, the body is fragile and stale. While many of us know that heart disease is rampant in the United States, we remain largely unaware of a powerful tool in its prevention: green tea. The heart protective effects of green tea can be attributed mainly to its antioxidant and anti-obesity properties, while other mechanisms play supporting roles. Each of these mechanisms will be discussed below in terms of TCM as well as Western medicine.
