Long before I became a nutritionist and life extensionist I was into wine as a hobby. For over the last 36 years I have a drank about 2 glasses of wine every night with dinner. When I understood the studies that red wine was best, because it contained nutrients from the skin, seeds and compounds like Resveratrol, I switched primarily to red wine, as my choice. Good quality wines like Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and the like have varying degrees of these coupounds known as polyphenols, proanthocyanidins(OPCs), resveratrol etc. Over the last 10 years I have been focusing on nutraceuticals that contains therapeutic amounts of these and other compounds that can be taken to prevent aging, and best of all, age related diseases.
I formulate products that contain these substances like ECGC, from green tea ext, N-acetylcysteine, Alpha-lipoic acid, CoQ10, grape seed ext, spirulina, and others to make taking large amounts, easy and convenient.
Even better yet than Resveratrol, Protandim is a new product that triggers over 500 survival genes.
Protandim has the following benefits...
1) Increases glutathione by 300%;
2) Increases activity of SOD (superoxide dismutase) and CAT (catalase) antioxidant enzymes by 54%;
3) 48% decrease in plasma TBARS, a marker of lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress;
4) A 57% decrease in plasma osteopontin, a fibrosis-promoting factor linked to heart failure;
5) 35% increase in beneficial, protective plasma PON1 activity, an enzyme thought to protect against atherosclerosis by preventing the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.
6) Suppresses cancer tumors
7) Antioxidant, provides more antioxidant power than any food or conventional supplement.
8) Anti-inflammatory
9) Anti-fibrotic properties
I also eat lots of sardines, blue berries, raspberries, black beans etc for there amazing health benefits and The Ideal Diet.

Resveratrol: Cutting-Edge Technology Available Today...
Wine. No other beverage has attracted the attention of modern medicine like this drink. Although it is most widely known for its benefits for the heart, wine has benefits against cancer, dementia, and other age-related diseases. Researchers in Denmark recently looked at 25,000 people to find out what drinking alcohol does to mortality and discovered that wine drinkers slash their overall risk of dying from any cause by about 40%.
Chemists took wine apart years ago to find out what makes it tick. Basically, it contains a host of plant compounds. Unfortunately, resveratrol and some of the other beneficial components got shelved as “toxicants,” and nobody paid much attention to them until a scientist tried to figure out why the French can eat so much fat and not get heart disease. It turns out that part of the answer to the “French paradox” is resveratrol found in red wine.

Resveratrol -- Fights Diabetes In Mice...
Even relatively low doses of resveratrol--a chemical found in the skins of red grapes and in red wine--can improve the sensitivity of mice to the hormone insulin, according to a new report. As insulin resistance is often characterized as the most critical factor contributing to the development of type 2 diabetes, the findings "provide a potential new therapeutic approach for preventing or treating" both conditions, the researchers said.

Red Wine Compound Shown To Prevent Prostate Cancer...
Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have found that nutrients in red wine may help reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer.
The study involved male mice that were fed a plant compound found in red wine called resveratrol, which has shown anti-oxidant and anti-cancer properties. Other sources of resveratrol in the diet include grapes, raspberries, peanuts and blueberries.
In the study resveratrol-fed mice showed an 87 percent reduction in their risk of developing prostate tumors that contained the worst kind of cancer-staging diagnosis. The mice that proved to have the highest cancer-protection effect earned it after seven months of consuming resveratrol in a powdered formula mixed with their food.
